Update on Fiance (Grade 2 Oligodendroglioma)

I have not posted in sometime. I read and look around frequently but rarely post.


My fiancé has been doing great (Grade 2 Oligodendroglioma, left parietal Lobe, Partial resurrection, no gene deletion) No growth on MRI’s (one year mark) still no treatment after surgery, they have told us that he will eventually need radiation/treatment, but not while everything is still, MRI’s are good and life is normal. I was in a panic with no treatment following his surgery, but have come to understand it more, and after a few other opinions, I feel great about it.

WE ARE EXPECTING! I am due June 22nd. We are both very shocked but very happy! Took some time for it to sink in, and it was quite emotional, but we are in this together and we will continue to fight, plus 1!

Short update for now, Sending my love to everyone I have followed on here since day 1.

    The most wonderful sound in the world is the laughter of a baby.  I realize I am a bit late in responding to your news, but I just recently joined.   I have been following your story and love how well the two of you are doing!   In 2006 I had an oligodendroglioma grade II in the my left perietal lobe removed at Duke University Hospital.  No deletions, but my surgeon believes he removed all he could find.  I am a bit shy around blogs, but thought it time to join in.   Following my surgery it took my body about two years before I could return to my normal active state.  I am an avid hiker in the Colorado mountains and weightlifter.  My prolonged healing was due mostly to inflammation and having to take steriods.  But, I found a gluten free diet and a dairy free diet solved my inflammation problem since both create inflammation in the body.  However, I still have a good strong cup of coffee in the morning.    My doctor recommended the wait and see program so I did not have radiation or chemo.  This past December a bit of my tumor has returned.  About 5mm.  So, here's to slow growth.   Would love to hear how your pregnancy is going and your future plans.  Something wonderful to read.  All my best.
