Well tomorrow is my last day of treatment, and doing relatively well, but just received a phone call from my oldest sister. She told me she was just diagnosed with stage 3 SCC with a primary tumor on the tonsil, with lymph node involvment on the same side, where as mine was same except stage 4 because of node involvement on the opposite side as well. What a mind blower! I am encouraging her to get on this site for suppport and resources.

Whoo Hoo on the last treatment.....
I remember that day well, and what a relief it is. The next two weeks or so might be rough, since you keep on cooking...BUT, you won't have to get up and get to radiation...and that was wonderful for me!

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister...wow, two in one family, with such little time between Dx'es...We'll pull her into the fold when she gets here.

I know you do...I'll be here all the way.....I remember I had to wait a couple weeks before getting into radiation, seemed like forever.
I love you Sis and am working on some things for thanksgiving.....

    sister joining us
Susie, welcome but sorry you have to join the ranks.

You have a great tutor in your brother, but wow two siblings in such a short time, kind of makes your head spin.

I agree the sooner you get started, the sooner you will get thru it. Sounds like you have a good medical team who are moving quickly to get you on "the bus". Our last batch of survivors all rode on "Phrannie's bus" and all of the rest of us oldies cheered all of them on. You will get great advice from everyone here, so ask away if you have any questions.

Best of luck to you on this journey.

    Welcome Susie...
I actually had the very same x as you...STGII Tonsils and Lymnode on the same side...HPV+.

I went through nine weeks of chemo (three week cycles), then seven weeks of concurrent weekly chemo and daily rads...that was back in 2009, all clear since.

My point being, it's very survivable, and you'll get through it.

As your brother has, I'm sure you'll do just as well...

Sorry for your situation, but what a better support system on going through it than your brother.

    Best,
    John

    Wow, Jim and Susie
What a relief the end of rads is - something about knowing that even though you're not going to wake up the next day completely recovered, at least you know you're not doing anything to cause more damage.

And how hard to learn that your sister will be travelling down the same road you've been on.

Welcome to the group, Susie. Sounds like you're ready to kick into action - good. Do well.

Congrats on the end of the treatment and the ringing of the bell, although, it is tempered with the news about your sister. I feel so bad for her but glad she and you have each other to lean on. Enjoy your new found freedon not going to radiation every day. After today we have 4 left.

    Wow
my husband was about 3 month post treatment for stage 4 bot cancer when we learned that my brother in law had also been dx with the same thing! Crazy..you can't imagine that it can happen to begin with and then to have other family members dealing with it. At least you can offer alot of insight and support.
