Symbolism to Tell Our Stories
It's a symbol of how my life changed this year from where I finally thought the road would end after many years of travelling the Cancer Road...
Only to find an unplanned detour that started 2012 with the sudden turn of my late father's health and subsequent passing and all of the melodrama and challenges that have befallen us as a result of how he chose to live his life - and how we've paid for all of the bad decisions he made.
Something along those lines:)
Cancer wise, I think I'm still doing okay.
Thank you for your post...I sure appreciate it, Jen!

I sure do hope 2013 is a better year. Sorry for your headaches. It does seems some people get through life with very few problems while others get more than their share. Not fair. But I think everyone here could agree that life isn't fair.
Not that you asked...but if I were you I'd get a couple of quotes on cleaning the house out and getting it ready to sell. The cost should be split between all parties that will get a share of the sale. You shouldn't have to do that alone and if you do I would talk to a lawyer about collecting a fee for your hard work.0 -

You made me smile too:)
!!!
Once I get there, you are cordially invited, of course:)
Until then, you sound like you need a hug...and I know I need one...

I was trying to post a reply and Jen beat me to it. I agree with her that costs to the estate should be covered by all beneficiaries, or if there are proceeds from the estate, your documented costs should be deducted from the estate proceeds. We did that in my family when my brother passed away a couple of years ago.
Craig, my heart ached for you when I read your recent posts about your family. It's taken a long time for me to reply. Coming from a dysfunctional family myself (abuse - I lived in fear as a child) I understand where you were coming from. I hope with your father's passing you can forgive him (helpful to you) and move on. My best wishes to you, who has been so helpful and caring to me and others on this forum. You are the lion!0 -

At first I thought "isn't a Detour already Unplanned?" But NO!
It's actually defined as this:
Detour
n.
1. A roundabout way or course, especially a road used temporarily instead of a main route.
2. A deviation from a direct course of action.
intr. & tr.v. de·toured, de·tour·ing, de·tours
To go or cause to go by a roundabout way.
This sure sums up many of our lives Buddy.

Just goes to show you that there can be "another life" after cancer...
And not necessarily the one that you expect:)
Your mathematics is correct...it's really "sum"thing after all.
Now, where's the main road? I'm a little off the beaten path:)
Thanks, Phil

I'm sorry you had a rough time too...fear is a horrible way to be raised...
In some strange way, it's always nice to know that you are not alone...no matter what topic it is.
Thanks for your understanding:)0
