How are you doing Gigi?
I have been thinking about you and wondering how you are. I haven't seen you post for awhile. How is rad going for you? Did you start using aquaphor and doing sitz baths the first day?

Just Saw This
Hi Joy,
I just noticed this post. Sorry about that. I guess we've caught up on other posts at this point but to answer your question..kinda. I found a product online called Andra Sina that I've been using. I have a friend who used it (not for radiation) and recommended it. My radiologist checked the ingredients and said that there wasn't anything in it that would be harmful. I ordered a package from them specifically designed for radiation therapy skin care. There is a lotion for daily use and an ointment for more severe areas (I don't have any yet). Honestly, I'm on a wing and a prayer here with no real reference for the product during radiation other than some random posts on the internet. I have Aquaphor too should I need it. For me it was just hard to get it completely off before treatments..waxy feeling. The Andra Sina is a lotion and is absorbed in completely. Sitz baths? No.
I can definitely let you know as I move during treatments. I'm on day 13 today and have no sign of burns.0 -
Biotene
I meant to add that I am using Biotene daily. I have the toothpaste, the spray and the rinse. I don't have any mouth issues yet either.0 -
Thanks for the info!
Gigi,
I have been using the Biotene also and occasionally swishing with the salt water. I munched on ice and drank cold ice water before and while I was at the chemo doctor getting my first infusions. No problems with mouth. Praise God!
I will check out the products for the skin. I think I am as ready as I can be at this point. I have the donut, peri bottles (they were a life saver after having a big baby), the portable bidet, the wipes, soft paper towels, big cotton underwear - you name it for when things might get painful. Hopefully rad will start today. I am curious to see what the dosage will be for me.0 -

Joy,
Sounds like me..I felt very stocked up when the process began. I still need to get my cotton undies. My doc told me to get cotton boxers because of the lack of elastic and the free flow of the legs. I can't find them in female section less than $5-$7 a pair so I'm going to get guy ones and have a campfire later with them. lol My husband said he wouldn't wear them afterwards (it's a cancer thing I suppose..he wants no part of anything to do with cancer after I'm healed). I respect his anger about it.
My dosage is 5400 by the way.
Take care..I also sent you a private message with my personal email should either of us not be on this site for a few days.

I'm not usually a nightgown kind of girl, but that is what I wore (commando) non stop for a few weeks toward the end of my tx. And I threw them all away after tx. I didn't want any reminder of how I felt when I was wearing them. So look forward to enjoying your bon fire with your boxers. It will be a good day when you no longer need to wear them.0 -

I'm ready now ladies. Granny gowns, pullover and snaps in the cutest paisley. Guy cotton boxers in plaid..yes, plaid..blue and yellow. I'm all for commando too during this. I've got some of those blue pads for my recliner especially with the waxy Aquaphor and a waterproof mattress pad for our bed.
Everyone, have a good day!!
