◙** What Is Everyone Doing For Thanksgiving? **◙
Are you hosting the dinner at your home, or, going somewhere?
And, what do you do on the day? Eat, take a nap, watch football, Christmas shop, put up your Christmas tree? What?
Happy Thanksgiving

We are going to my sister
We are going to my sister and brother in laws for the day. Almost the entire family will be there, so, it will be a house full. ( good thing they have a huge house lol )
I am taking a relish tray with dip, a corn casserole, and, if I get ambitious, I might make some homemade rolls.
Wishing everyone a happy turkey day!
Hugs, Megan0 -
Thanksgiving Plans
Since my kids are grown and are doing their own thing, I am going to my sister's house for the day. I am baking a ham and taking it.
After dinner, we will are planning to go and do some shopping.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday.0 -
Spending It with the In-laws
My husband joins some of his brothers and nephews to do some deer hunting in the morning. Then we will join probably 30-35 (never sure) relatives for dinner at the homestead. (He is one of sixteen children, most of whom live within an hour of here.) We will take a large dish of whatever his sisters have assigned for us to bring -- usually a veg like squash or corn casserole.
We eat about 1:00, as some of the men are farmers who have to get home for evening milking (about 4:00 or so). Those who don't have to get back to do chores may be part of a group that goes back out hunting until dark
These are the things that go on: card games, touch football outside (when the weather is good), watching football on tv, catching a snooze out on one of the couches in the family room, visiting.
We get home early enough in the evening that I begin to think about my decorations for Christmas and winter, although I wait to start until Friday. I do not shop either Thanksgiving Day or that weekend, as I do not like to shop, let alone when there are a bazillion people out in the stores.
Sometimes we have green Thanksgiving Days; sometimes we have snow (not lots) on the ground.0 -
Nothing basically
Hubby will be working and as he is a tow truck driver you never know when or how much he will be doing. Yesterday - he was supposed to be offf and we were going to go to lunch at Texas Roadhouse for lunch and Golden Corral for supper - that didn't happen. He got called out to do a tow 200 miles each way so I rode with him. It was a nice day - clear and not too cold. (about 32 for high) but a very long day as 40+ miles were on a narrow ice covered gravel road, (took 2 hrs) mostly through open range so cows often blocking the road and huge antelope herds, some deer and a few elk definately made for slow going.
Actually I won't complain about him working on Thanksgiving Day - we'll have a nice night on Sunday after. He actually volunteered work to as it's just the 2 of us here so the boss/owner can go to his In-Laws a few hours away for the Day/weekend. We'll be going to Deadwood on Sunday for the night and for lots of prime rib - LOVE it. I love to play the penny one armed bandits (slots) so after we eat and Hubby gets tired of sittting 'watchiing people' he'll go up to the room and I'll keep walking Main Street til I either get tired or run out of money (don't worry - I won't spend the 'rent money' - I save up a little bit here and there that's not needed for anything and that's all I'll spend in the slots - never more than $40) . (We always stay in either the Franklin or Bullock - both are supposed to be 'haunted' but I've never seen/felt/noticed anything in either.
So no on Thanksgiving Day we will be doing nothing but having a nice evening/night on Sunday0 -

We are having family and friends here for Thanksgiving. I've been busy cleaning and trying to get the house just perfect! I will confess that I did have some help come in to clean the windows as our house is so big and I just didn't have the time to get the windows all cleaned. My husband wanted me to have them clean everything, but, I actually enjoy doing it. I've got my decorations out, the tables are set up and I will finish my grocery shopping this weekend. Everyone will bring something, so, the cooking will be easy for me. We will eat, have some wine, watch some football and visit. Looking forward to a great day!0 -
Hosting...sigh. We'll
Hosting...sigh. We'll probably be havin daughter, two of her friends, 3 of our friends and a couple of relatives. Then, Katherine and her friends have talked me into driving them around at the crack of dawn for Black Friday. I think I need to revisit my psychiatrist cuz this is crazy ;-).0 -

Usually we have a pretty large group. But this year, since the new grandson is here, we're just having my son, daughter-in-law and baby Lincoln. Also 3 dogs--2 of theirs and our Vizsla. I make all the usual--organic roast turkey, gravy, sausage/cornbread stuffing, mashed taters, fresh cranberry sauce, a couple of vegs and a pumpkin pie, apple pie, warm cider with cinnamon sticks and something new this year--a pumpkin spice bundt cake with buttermilk icing.
Football is always on and the we schedule the meal around the games and then we usually take a nice walk with the dogs. This year, I wanted to enjoy Lincoln and not worry about entertaining guests. We always go around the table with our gratitude lists. I have so much to be grateful for!

I love Thanksgiving
Usually I cook for this holiday hosting between 15 and 18 people but since I am going through chemo this year and the family thinks its too much for me I convinced them to still let me host it but we are having the food catered. I'm a little disappointed but still glad that I will have my family around and won't change too much of tradition for my kids. Plus I know the food is going to be amazing cause I'm having it catered from my wonderful brothers store..Bella Italia!
Hope you all have a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving!

I'm cooking here and I can't wait. I always said that Thanksgiving is the easiest meal to fix and I think it is. I really am not asking anyone to bring anything except desserts, as, I will have everything else cooked here. My hubby is a huge help to me! He will do anything I tell him, I mean ask LOL him to do.
I've got my Thanksgiving china dishes ready and am looking forward to having our family here to enjoy this special day.
We will toast and give thanks at the dinner table for all of our blessings, which are many.
Happy Thanksgiving!0 -

We are leaving Saturday to go to WA to spend 12 days with our son, DIL, and their 5 girls (12,10,3,8 months, 8 months) :-) It will be a very thankful Thanksgiving. There was a harrowing pregnancy with the twins and one of them had open heart surgery when she was 1 month old. Both are doing just great now!

Oddly I didn't realize it
Oddly I didn't realize it was NEXT week until yesterday. We stay home-just my adult girls, grandsons (all live at home) and 2 boy friends. I must get busy since our dining room is the boys "play room) we took table and chairs out and it's all their toys. (their room at my house very small) we had family room but that is their mom's room.
so I must shift, move many toys to get our table in.
(we have kitchen counter with 4 stools we use) so not like no place to eat on avg day.

I go to my friend's house,
I go to my friend's house, there are usually about 10 of us there. Her husband cooks the traditional turkey, and they do rolls and gravy. The rest of us do all the side dishes. The kids run around and play, pool or video games. The adults visit and drink wine. We all eat too much.
We also take some time to stop at the neighbor's house. Our daughters are the same age and have been in the same class together all through elementary school, so they are like family to us.
Thanksgiving snuck up on me too...I realized a couple days ago that it is next week. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Everyone's Thanksgiving sounds wonderful! We do have a tradition at our family dinner and that is everyone takes a turn in saying what they are thankful for. I have to admit, it can get a little emotional, but, a very good tradition.
Wishing all of my beautiful pink sisters the happiest Thanksgiving ever!0 -
