Australian Scientists using new targeted therapy to kill cancer cells

Pete, why are you in Germany? They're trying this new cancer therapy in Australia! LOL.
Sounds promising, it's supposed to spare the healthy cells, they take and grow mini cells and fill them with chemotherapy drugs and they are programed to head directly to the tumor, testing so far shows it's safe and doesn't have the toxic side effects of regular infusion of chemotherapy.
I like the sounds of this one!!

    Dear Winter Marie, you didn't say where you got this info, so I went looking. Found this article which describes a Phase 1 trial and discusses the mechanics...

    It would be wonderful if this works as well as it sounds. Not only does it not affect normal cells, and has limited side effects but they beleive that it can be used on many different types of cancers.

    Let's keep our fingers crossed...this may just be the start of a means of fighting cancer without the toxic effects of current treatments.

    Hi Marie
    I saw a report during the week that Australia has commenced human trials of a crc blood test. It apparently has shown a lot of promise and has a low false positive result. They believe it will be more patient acceptable than the current fobt. The more people screened the better,Ron.

    For finding more info on it, I thought it might have been too new to have anything published yet. I liked the more in depth info on how it works. Thank you for finding that. They're already heading to Phase II.

    i think the german women are wonderful and i like to travel and today i am off to a hot spring and sauna with some clinic friends. we look so funny nude in the saunas with all our ports, scars and wobbly bits. safety in numbers. we will have a super healthy german beer, no alcohol alas. i will have a toast to all my csn friends.

    seriously the 5 aussie oncs never suggested this very exciting trial, i have looked and looked for anything effective for the rising marker over 10 months. nothing offered besides standard chemo. here i get the best medicine i have heard of. using trifunctional antibodies and tailor made antigens and metronomic chemo. time will tell our stories.

    i will printout the info marie found and give to my daring german onc, it seems the dutch doctor also is involved so its likely being used europe as well.

    a little more hope for us all. when i have exhausted the treatments here, I would be happy to go home and try this therapy if i could get onto the trial and it fitted into my treatment plan. i could come home sooner.

    in aussie, we find amazing things, but so often our reseach goes off shore to be implemented, its the case in point with dendtretric cell vaccine and the australian developed colorectal antigen. i could not get it at home, only here. see my blog for details.
