in Prostate Cancer #1
Friend with Stage 4 with bone mets recently started on this new drug. He seems to be doing well and some of the mets are disappearing. Wanted to bring a little light and hope to anyone battling this disease. Be well.

    This drug is the newer antiandrogen that works at intratumoral levels. It manages to stop cells from producing its own androgenes.

    I hope the drug helps your friend to get rid of the all metastases.

    We, too, have a very close friend who is mHRPC stage T4.  He failed Zytiga after 5 mos and just started Xtandi this week. We're remaining positive and hoping for the best.  Good luck to both you and your friend.

    Maybe time for a change
    Hubby has been on Zytiga for a little while now and his PSA is continuing to rise, maybe it's time to change to Xtandi.

    Could you provide details on his present conditions. What was his past PSA histology?

    Xtandi is not a sort of substitute for Zytiga. It works differently but it should be able of working in combination. The problem is that FDA's approval restrics these drugs use, and with that, insurers whould not cover the costs.

    You may consult independent doctors specalized in target medications, such as Dr. Myers, Dr. Bob and Dr. Scholz , etc., that could provide an excellent advice on a protocol to cases like hubby.

    Oh I know it works differently VG. His doc had mentioned Xtandi at his last visit but my research shows that you have to had chemo, which he hasn't so maybe he won't qualify. He is Stage 4 with mets.
