Dad passed away October 21st
I recently went to a health fair in one of our major hospitals here in Anchorage, AK and EC was not even mentioned except for every single type of cancer. They say its a "Rare" cancer but it doenst mean that people should not be aware of it. It should get as much attention as other forms of common cancer. I also plan on making a documentary of this cancer to make the public more aware and to give hope to patients who already have it.
My father was the type of man who ALWAYS ALWAYS made sure that people were taken care of before himself, even if you were a total stranger. He was a very generous man. And this is my way of giving hope. I will keep everybody posted this forum. Thank you all again. My heart goes out to all families and paitients on this forum battling EC. God Bless.

ECAN
So sorry for your loss of your Dad. He sounds like a great guy.
As for EC awareness, if you haven’t already you should check out the Esophageal Cancer Action Network (www.ecan.org). It’s a great organization and it’s all about making people aware of this beast and the dangers of recurrent heartburn and reflux. Something the "medical community" does a lousy job of!

Thank you, I will take a look at that website.
I'm glad there's at least something out there. But I guess what I want to do is to "grab" peoples attention in every which way and direct them to organizations like Ecan. Thanks again!0 -
I am sorry to hear this news about your Dad
Your Dad sounds like a great guy. I remember your posts from a while back.
Awareness is always an issue with esophageal cancer, not only that it is one of the fastest growing cancers in the US, but that gastric reflux is a significant risk factor. You are right; the medical community seems to not have much of a clue about what is going on with EC.
I am sure your Dad would appreciate your efforts to help insure others do not follow his path with this disease.
With my condolences,
