Your story is similar to mine
Your story is similar to mine. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with fluid around both lungs and had the chest drains that you have had. I too had aches and pains around the lungs which is quite normal as you have had alot of trauma there.
The beginning bit is the hardest and in time you will learn how to live with this. I used to be a runner and unfortunately I have not been able to carry on as I am tired. But I can still go swimming which I love. You have to be careful with exercise soon after the plueradesis and just give it time. You will get your lung capacity back but it needs to heal from the plueradesis.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on, Tina xx0 -

I have seen a physical therapist and start therapy next week - we want to get started before I go for my next chemo on the 30th. As I said I am such a worrier. I do notice that the aches and pains have been more so as I have more treatments. It seems what really aggravates it is any bending or lifting. Just amazes me that it takes this long for healing (from May and July). Have gone from being very independent to having to depend on people for alot, which is hard Am determined to stay positive and get up each day saying this will be a good day.
Thanks again for your reply it is a great help.

Welcome...
Hi there Deb...
I was on carboplatin when I first had chemo but didn't have the taxol. I didn't had muscle pain but my abdomen pain is a chronic thing and is uncomfortable for most of the time unless I'm distracted. I worry about not exercising enough especially since I put on weight during chemo and afterwards. I think it was because I was out of condition and then with everything else, it was what I'd call a nobrainer! Gradually, after a year, I do feel stronger but I'm still limited in what I can do. I feel a lot more positive but, like you, my abdominal pain and discomfort flairs up when I've been standing or moving for long periods. (Sometimes after short walks too.) Hell though, I'm in a much better place than I thought I would ever be and for that I'm very thankful. People here have been great and have helped me get through. I wish you all good thoughts....0 -

I too feel the pain I have as a result of the surgery and chemo is much better than I was prior to my surgery. I did go thru a very scary period and a huge adjustment from being extremely independent to having to depend on people and to ask for help. Am told it is just a few months after my last surgery and alot of this is common (OHH but I still worry as I feel I should be doing more). It is very true the posts I have read here have helped me greatly - you feel that you are not alone and others understand what you are going thru and are so good to offer advice and encouragement.
