Waitinglaw522 said:no results yet--seeing RAD on Mon afternoon--Hope he has result
I guess when they do these tests we have to wait for results--even at this early stage in my diagnosis I am learning that this is a hurry up and wait kinda thing and I refuse to HURRY my life away --Dear Lord PLEASE give me patience--I am going to have to update some of my personality traits if i am going to get through this!!!!!
Hi Linda,
Yes, you will learn patience and humility through all of this! I am not sure why you have to keep waiting for results. I was treated at a hospital and everything moved pretty quickly. Except for the first biopsy, I never waited days for results. I did, however, learn to wait during treaments. Things do not always go as planned and the only thing that is predictable after diagnosis is that life is now unpredictable. It sounds like a cliche, but it is true for me, that every moment becomes precious. I will pray for you that the doctors have good results from your tests. You will get through this and someday you will be looking back at these days and marvel at the new found strength and patience that you found in the uncertainty.
Hugs.

I am not sure how all this is suppossed to work. I went for the CTscan on Friday morning. I go to see the radiologist on Mon afternoon. i Had appt with colon rectal surgeon on Wed at 4:30 pm and he is the one that got me in for CT scan before the appt with Rad.
I guess it all stems from me having routine hemmy surgery on Oct 3. getting bad results on Oct 9 andd them trying to move me along to GOOD dr's as quick as possible AND trying to get the required tests done quickly I really don't know the course all this should be taking and what tests I need--I am so lost I don't know how long each type of test results take!
Unpredictable for sure---routine was anything BUT routine0 -
Hi Sandy!sandysp said:Tuesday
They said the results should be ready on Tuesday. The scan was easy. Much easier than the last ones where they scanned the entire pelvis. I feel better, but the antibiotics did not wipe out the inflammation completely again. I am not in good shape for enduring the entire fall as when they take out the leaf blowers, etc I get ill in a good year, which I don't remember having in a while. I need to go to the shore for a while. Also need to win the lottery:-) I don't know whether or not to get the flu and pneumonia shots while sick. It seems you have to ask these questions. Doctors are afraid to recommend or not recommend anything it seems these days.
Thanks for your good thoughts. You are the best, Martha!
Fondly,
Sandy
You are so sweet! I want you to know that I will praying real hard for you to get good results on Tuesday. I SO hope your lung issues are nothing serious and you can get back to singing. That's what sucks the most about cancer--when it takes away from us the things we love doing. I am sending you lots of good vibes and some big bear hugs!0 -

We all have been in hurry up and wait mode. It truly sucks, but seems to be the way it is, and there is very little that can be done to change it. I think that's one of the hardest things to deal with. I am NOT a patient person!0 -

I know how you are feeling waiting waiting waiting--
What do you mean about easier scan than the last ones? Is there a difference?
I thought mine went fast (about 15 min)
I had to drink 2 bottles of some foul tasting wanna be berry smootie stuff and then when i got there they put a IV in and put something in me that made me warm all over and it felt like I had to P.
I have on my list of ?'s whether I should get the flu shot too---
I LOVE the shore, my Aunt has a house in Wildwood NJ that I usually go to every summer for a week---I didnt make it this year, youngest son graduated HS and started college so my MAD money was used for other things this year.
You are in my thoughts and hope all your tests come back OK for you

The yucky stuff you had to drink prior to your scan was redi-cat, which is barium sulfate contrast. It coats your esophagus, stomach and intestines, making them easier to see on the imaging. We've all had to do it. I have a bottle of "Very Berry" flavor chilling in my fridge right now for next February's CT. The IV contrast is the stuff that makes you feel like you are peeing your pants. It's a very strange feeling, indeed! I'm sure you were instructed to drink LOTS of water after your scan was done to help flush all the barium out of your system.
I'm not sure about the flu shot--you should definitely consult your oncologist on that one. If you are going to be getting chemo, you don't want anything interfering with its effectiveness.
Please keep us posted on what the plan is for you when you meet with your doctors.0 -

My last CT with Contrast I had to drink that stuff (the first one too) but this one was just to look at the lymph glands and didn't include the stomach, etc. So it just had the die going in the veins and went a lot faster than the last ones did. I think it is going to be okay. Today is the first day my cough is really a lot better. I am tired of being sick and tired though and look forward to better days with less tests ahead. (Although I am grateful for having the cautious doctors who do "prudent" things:-)
I never go to the Jersey Shore. I need to get out more!
Love,
