Is the bone pain
From the taxol itself or from the shots afterward? I get sever bone pains after chemo but they are brought on by the nepogren shot. Have your dad call the office they will call in something stronger for him. I use ultram when bad but but terrible and oxycodone when really bad.
Good luck0 -

Thanks for your reply. He had a Neulasta shot on october 2nd and had no side effects. I am sure this is from the Taxol. He was taking 2 regular strength tylenol and it was not doing anything. Called oncologist and they said to take 2 extra strength tylenol. I don't know if that is going to make any difference. It must be hurting pretty bad because he is not a complainer.0 -
You might ask about Lyrica...
I suffered from all over pain for 8 months before I was finally given Lyrica (after a ton of vicodin and norco didn't even put a dent in it). I had relief within 24 hours and am almost pain free. You might check it out with your doctor. (I just did a post on it)0 -

I had severe bone pain on Taxol, but was warned that it might happen. In many ways it was harder than the AC portion.
I had to get percocette (which I didn't want) but you have to do whatever it takes. I would cry from the leg pain and used rubs but needed the pain meds. I will pray for your dad because I know all too well how painful it is. The good news is, when Taxol is finished, it will go away. Just tell him not to be frightened if for a while, he can't stay on his feet for long periods of time.
Best of luck to you both.

Can you call his onco and see if he can prescribe something for him to help with the pain? I hope he gets relief soon.

One of my chemo nurses
One of my chemo nurses suggested Claritin, and that did help me.0 -
Taxol Pain
Hi,
When I had Taxol during my first bout with cancer it litteraly brought me to my knees. I was in such pain I can't even explain it. I also have Rhumatoid Arthritis so I don't think that helped. I ended up on percocet and it did not eliminate my pain. I hope your dad can find something that will help him. He should ask the doctor for something to relieve the pain. My prayers are with you.

I was told to take Claritin for this--and it worked wonders.
Another tip if you haven't heard it already--if he gets a metalic taste in his mouth when eatting tell him to use plastic ware instead of silver ware. Also try to cook things in glassware which seems to help as well. Plenty of H2O is always a must.
