Finished radiation and 6 month lupron what is next

in Prostate Cancer #1
I had my last radiation on October 3rd it is now the 18th.does anyone have any idea
how long the side effects last. Still have fatigue--poor sleep lots of disturbing dreams-
only sleep 2 hours max--many naps during the day.
slight burning .
of course all the ED problems. I just want to hear from others what experiences they have had.
I find that the more I learn the better I handle everything. All help would be appreciated

    RADIATION AND HT
    I had radiation and 6 month Trelstar HT in 2010.
    Never really had fatigue problems much. Had two 3 month shots of Trelstar.
    After the 2nd shot in October 2010 i developed the sleep problems you are having.
    It was very bad. Went thru 2 different sleeping pills. Ambien finally allowed me
    to get maybe 5 hours a night which really felt good. It finally cleared up in March
    of 2011 about 5 months after my second shot. Will be getting my 6 month PSA check
    in 3 weeks. The nerves are back!

    problems Good luck with your six month psa please let me know how it is going

    I had radiosurgery, radiation in high doses and about a month later started HT. shot every 28 days. First thought depression, random pain, nausea was from radiation, then thought HT, but finally settled on radiation. Lasted a few months. Now if anything happens it has to be HT.
    When I was in the middle of the two items I seemed to sleep two hours and wake up then fall asleep, etc. all night long. Still do not know which one caused it. I sleep fine now, except for hot flashes at night. Do not have an answer for you because I really never figured it out.

    My R/O advised that the sleep problems were probably from the HT.
    I had finished the radiation about 1 month prior to the 2nd 3 month
    HT shot. Did not have any sleep problems till that 2nd shot. Then
    would sleep maybe 1-2 hours then wake up and never went back to sleep.
    Was working full time so i was a mess after 2-3 weeks when i went back
    for my R/O check up. She gave me sleeping pills which did not do much better.
    After another month i was given the Ambien which did help.
    Was not a good time. Hope i do not have to do again but you never know.

    It sounds like my husband is in the same boat as you only he finished his IMRT in May and is currently still on Lupron (about 8 months). His RO said 3 months after radiation is complete a psa would be taken, results should be low, that's the only way to know if things are working. His psa reading in August was .05 very good.
    However, he's since had a chest x-ray (due to coughs & fatigue) followed by a pet scan because of suspicion nodes found in his lungs and lymph nodes.
    The cat scan and mri taken at time of diagnosis showed no involvement elsewhere, so we are praying the report merely indicates an infection of some sort.
    As far as sleeplessness, my husband has not experienced that. He does have to get up about 4 times during the night to go to the bathroom and finds that when he has to go....he HAS to go. No accidents but he does wear a panti liner just in case.
    I wish you good luck, it's a scary road.
