lost my mum/how to help?

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1
on October 5th my beautiful and brilliant mum passed away at 58 years old.. just 4 months after her diagnosis of stage IV poorly differentiated endometrial cancer. I wish all the best for you ladies and hope you have much better results. We are heartbroken. She left behind a devastated husband and three children. Many family/friends have asked where they can make a donation and we are at a loss. We would like very much to somehow benefit others in the same position since there were so few resources for us. Does anyone know of a way to donate specifically to endometrial/uterine cancer? or at least metastatic cancer research?

    I am so sorry for you and the family! You will be lost for a long time, but doing something for Uterine Cancer(especially UPSC) would be so very wonderful. As far as I can see, it's not "profitable" to even research for us. I know nothing about donations, I'm sure some of the other ladies do and will be here soon. I do know that they are doing a lot of research on uterine and UPSC in Israel. Don't forget to ask someone over there if there is a place to make donations to futher their research.     The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) is a non-profit organization with the purpose of promoting excellence in the quality and integrity of clinical and basic scientific research in the field of Gynecologic malignancies. The Group is committed to maintaining the highest standards in clinical trials development, execution, analysis and distribution of results. Continuous evaluation of our processes is utilized in order to constantly improve the quality of patient care. To promote this mission, the GOG receives support from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the National Institutes for Health (NIH).

    Approximately 45 individual clinical trials are active at any one time within GOG for patients with a variety of gynecologic malignancies, including cancers that arise from the ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina, and vulva. General information on many of these trials for medical professionals and the lay public can be obtained from the NCI PDQ clinical trials database.

    I am so sorry for your deep loss. There are never the right words to express my deepest sympathy. I was diagnosed with this cancer a little over a year ago. You will be in my prayers during this very difficult time. I do not know much about donations for research. I do know that not much research is done for UPSC because it is a rare cancer. Sorry that I cannot be of help with the donation part, but I wanted to express my sympathy for you loss.

    I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She was much too young to pass away. I want to express my deepest sympathy on your loss to you and your family and my heart goes out to you as well.

    I was diagnosed with this cancer (UPSC) over a year and a half ago (Stage 1). I enjoy each and every day that I have and live for the now. My oncologist said I should survive this cancer and he is one of the top oncologists in the country. I live in the suburbs outside of Phila., PA. I know being diagnosed with UPSC is a very scary diagnosis. Cancer does change a person though and it makes you appreciate things. I did go through chemo and radiation.

    As far as donations are concerned, you could contact the American Cancer Society and I am sure they will direct you to where you can donate.

    Anyway, please keep us ladies posted and let us know how you are doing in the weeks and months ahead. I will say a prayer for you and your family and I know this is a very difficult time for you and family.

    Also, I lost my father to cancer 20 years ago (he was 72 at the time). He was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 1990 and lived over a year and a half. He had gotten diagnosed at a later stage. He had told me many years ago if he had known earlier, he would have gone sooner to see a specialist. I still miss my father and always will as I was very close to him. My mother is still living and she survived breast cancer (it was just 39 years ago) that she was operated on as her cancer was caught very early. So our family was very grateful that her cancer was caught early on and she had No follow up treatment. She is now 89 and is still in good health.
