update
Hi Monika, so sweet of you to think of me. I have been going through some tough stuff, to say the least and I keep wating to get out of the woods to write a good report. I have been in the hospital twice in the last month. First was for ileous (always been able to resolve myself, but this time I needed help.) Anyway, I am on liquids and TPN at home now. The second one was a serious kidney infection that couldn't be treated by oral anti-b's. Very high fevers!
I 'm taking things one day at a time, and surprised how easy it is to hook up the TPN and have my husband traied now too. I have a nurse that checks in every other day or so, and a home doc that comes once a week. I am optimistic, I will soon be better, at the same time, I don't have my head in the sand about my reality.
My last chemo was a month ago, but for now can't continue that until the infection is resolved. I have my stent changed on Tuesday, so that should make a huge difference.
Meanwhile I qualify for a separate kind of inurance (I guess it is kind of like disability in the US) so can get help with house work, cooking etc. That should start in a couple days.
I think the hardest thing for me is all the extra stuff my husband is having to do. He is so sweet, never complains and is always there. My kids are getting better at chipping in too.
I guess that is the summary of my life right now.
hugs and prayers all around,

I am sorry to hear about your recent troubles, you're so strong , hang in there. Good news about getting assistance. I too was wondering how you were. There's a lot of ladies that haven't posted in awhile and I don't facebook . I hope they're doing well .. I miss Carlene, Leesag and was hoping Lisa13Q would chime in and let us know how she's doing. Tina (Brown) just recently posted on the peritoneal board so I know she's hanging tough...
Big hugs,0 -

Restup so you can beat this infection, unfortunately this can be a slow process. I.m so glad that you are going to be getting help with the housework and such. try to relax and enjoy the help. Find something to keep your mind occupied, I am just happy to hear from you. you are so lucky to have your husband and kids to help you. Keep in touch when you can, in or out of the woods.

It is so nice to be remembered
Thank you Monika for asking about me. I haven't really been on here much just recently as I have been feeling quite ill and didn't really want to talk or write or read about cancer (if you understand me)
It is coming up to 3 years since my diagnosis and I am doing OK - which I am amazed at because I was told the average survival rate for my cancer (PPC IV) is 8 - 18 months. I don;t think they figured on me fighting and being able to tolerate all of the chemo they have thrown at me
Anyway, I have just finished 3 rounds of Cisplatin. Before that I had 3 rounds of carboplatin but I had to come off that because I had an allergic reaction during infusion where I had breathing problems and a bright red rash appeared. The cisplatin was pure evil and I have had really bad nausea and vomitting with ringing in my ears and lots and lots of fatigue. BUT I must say it has been worth it as my numbers came down from 2,000 to 225.
Because I have had 6 lots of a platinum based chemo then I am on a chemo break. Just waiting to get a CT and another CA125 check in a few weeks, but really really hoping to stay off the chemo as long as possible.
I think I have developed a phobia for the chemo clinic. I went in there the other week for something and as I went through the doors I felt so sick and apprehensive. I just think my body and mind have had chemo "overload" and just need a break.
Sorry to hear that you have had more problems Kathleen. I know have had cisplatin and it was tough for you too. What are you numbers like now?
Why are we fixated on these numbers????????? I guess it gives us a bench mark as we don't know what is going on inside of our bodies. Sometimes I feel that my body has betrayed me and it is working to kill itself and I have no control over it what so ever.
BUT I will not let cancer take over my life .......... so we battle on and keep on taking the poison because there is always a chance it will work.
Take care Tina xxxxx0 -

All you are going through, and yet you continue to be a strong Warrior in this fight! You are an inspiration, Tina.
I can truly understand your hesitation to post, AND your hesitation to walk through the clinic doors. But I'm so glad to know your numbers have come down. Yes, we tend to live and breath by those numbers, but you're right - they are somewhat of a gauge for us, unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it.
Continue your positive outlook, Tina, and your perseverance. That's all anyone can expect in this journey!
Love, Hugs and Prayers,
Monika0
