Hi ladies well I opened the other door today. Today was my first day of taking arimidex. I had no idea that it costs so much. It was $324.99 for a 30 day. Thank God I have insurance that covers it. I just hope they cover it for the 5 years that I have to take it. I will keep everyone posted on how I am feeling.

    Arimidex has a generic -
    Arimidex has a generic - anastrozole. I have been on it now for, gulp. 4 years. Best of luck for you. xoxoxo Lynn

    If you have a Costco in your area - you do NOT have to be a Costco member to use their pharmacy and there (it is anastrazole, the generic) it is only about $20.

    I also take the generic, Anastrozole. Hope all goes well for you. I had a few side effects during the first couple months but all seems to be ok now. Keep us posted, we'll be thinking of you!

    Luckily my insurance totally covers Arimidex. When pharmacy gave me generic, I saw it was made in China and refused it. The mfg plant in India that was making it has been closed down.
    ALSO Astra-Zenaca, who makes Arimidex has a fairly easy way to qualify for getting it free which was where I was gonna go if ins didn't cover brand-name. So, there are options and I swear by this med. I have been on it since 2003 and this does not have the 5 yr end date of effectiveness that tamoxifen has, so they are keeping me on it.

    I didn't have bad side effects until I had been on Arimidex (generic) for about 6 months. I noticed the bottle had changed and I asked the pharmacists for a list of manufacturers of all the rxs I had so far. The last one's were from the Indian manufacturer. The pharmacist said the side effects wouldn't be any different with the different manufacturers....but I wondered-enough to ask and I still wonder. My MO has since changed me to Femara, but how do you qualify to get the brand Arimidex? The jury's still out as to whether Femara is any better. So I'd like to know in case I decide to go back.

    It never occurred to me to
    It never occurred to me to question where my anastrozole was made. I don't even know what kind of oversight there is on pharmaceuticals coming from overseas. Wow! Something to think about.

    Hi ladies thanks for the advice and support. One thing I don't get is that the bottle says anastrozole which I saw in the posts which is supposed to be generic. If so my insurance should not be paying $325 should they? It says the manufacturer is Teva. Does anyone know anything about that? I have not heard of it. Hope everyone is doing ok.     yeah they should
    Arimidex is over $400, so yeah, the generic is a bit less. It can never be ,like, a whole lot less because it is what it is.
