what a day !
might of mentioned before I go to a Tiki bar on the beach on a Sunday afternoon every
week (recharges the batteries). Well today when I got there unbeknown to me
my wife had a suprise party all lined up. Family and friends all shown up
and a good day was had by all........I'm posting this after a few Bud Lights (quite a few )
letting people know WE can beat this and live a NEW normal life ( by the way
what does Bud Light taste like now). If I could post pictures like John (Skiffen) does
I would, but I don't know how so you have to take my word, it was warm and sunny, lots
of beer and food and a good time had by all.
God bless
Tonsil dad,
Dan

My wife and I enjoyed a nice weekend on Washinton staes Hood canal, no phones no computers, no cell service, just rest and sporadic fun. Took the kayaks out this morning, watched the salmon jump and the seals play......
Happy birthday with many re turns0 -

Awesome Time - Island Time
Happy Birthday Dan...
My absolute favorite time, is Island Time.....
One of our Chocolate Labs - Kali...she is on Island Time..., LOL..we actualy say Kali Time.
Kali is never in a hurry to do anything, and she definitely takes her time. Which is kind of annoying a 2:00AM when you take them (Kali and Jazmine - sisters) out to potty.
I'm due for a little recharging soon also. We are going to St. George Island up in the Florida Panhandle...barrier island.
We rent a beach house up there usually late October for mine and Shelley's Anniversary... The dogs love the water and the beach house is right on the beach (Beach House, LOL)....
Of course fishing will be involved, a few beers, steamed crabs, smoked mullet and fresh fish.
Soooo, if anyone else just happens to rent a place there during the last week of the month, look me up.
I'll be the one thinking of Dan, while;
I got my toes in the water, **** in the sand.
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand.
Life is good today, life is good today...
Best,
John0 -

For not saying you were going to have "boiled crabs" like they do in the south. I can't think of anything more disgusting. Oh, to be able to enjoy some Chesapeake Bay Blues, caught with just a chicken neck on a string and a net, sprinkled generously with Old Bay seasoning, washed down with a Natty Boh (sigh).0 -
Happy Birthday, Dan
We spend Sunday with my son, daughter-in-law,and smallest Grandson at a big fun pumpkin patch~~~ tho it was cold, windy and lightly raining, we still had fun. There's barn after barn with things for the kids..slides from the haymound, animals, a whole barn of little goats, zip lines, little train..it's become a family tradition over the last nine years...is really fun when my Daughter's family gets to come too...they didn't this year, but, I, Hubs and my small Grandson is heading to Chicago to spend next weekend ..can't wait birthday party at Legoland!0 -

I like the 'chicken neck on a string' capture method. Reminds me of trolling for snapping turtles when I was a kid. Didn't eat them, though.

Definitely Old Bay..., I love that stuff.. It's great for Low Boils also.
I bet you even know the difference by looking at Blue Crabs, which are male and which are female.... just by their painted finger nails.

WAY TO GO DAN
Happy B day and you deserve to let loose. I bet it not only recharged the batteries, but having those who care the most about you spending their day with you must have been heartwarming.

I don't post much but check in here everyday to see what positive thoughts are sure to be found from all the caring folks who offer support. Many of you make me smile with your light-hearted comments and that is some of the best medicine available anywhere. John (Skiffin), you have been a regular source of delightful comments that give me a lift because I also love to fish and live in Florida, too, and had a laborador retriever who was my best 'island time' beach buddy. I have been away from my beach house on Alligator Point in the FL Big Bend since July. That was when my son was diagnosed with throat cancer and I traveled to upstate NY to be with him through his treatments because he lives alone and there were no other caregivers available. I have missed the beach and especially the fishing so I look forward to having a vicarious experience through your posts, recipes, and photos. Thank you. Alligator Point is in a less developed area of Franklin County ... but not far from St.George Island. October is my favorite month to fish from the shore. I do not have a boat but don't need one since the fishing is great directly from the beach. October is such a beautiful month most everywhere and while I cannot be fishing at the beach, I have been enjoying the cool weather and brightly colored autumn leaves in upstate NY. I know you will have a wonderful fun-filled week on St. George Island and am looking forward to your posts afterward. Thanks for sharing the fun with all of us.0
