People using undiagnosed cancer
People using undiagnosed cancer as an excuse for not finishing a project started a YEAR earlier. Yep it just happened to me. I had to redo and finish a project recently (DVD for a class reunion that I planned during my real diagnosis and treatment) and the person had the gall to say she couldn't deliver (this was on Facebook) because they JUST found a mass during a mammo. It hasn't been diagnosed as cancer yet and she has people thanking her for her hard work (for something she didn't deliver) and how sorry they are that she has cancer!

Boy I needed this to vent! Thanks for listening. I don't want to lower myself to her level by posting a rebuttal on FB. Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry if she does in fact have cancer, but she's told so many lies the last year I don't know what to believe. That's my other pet peeve-liars.

Political proselytizers. I
Political proselytizers. I hate when people are disrespectful towards either party or candidate. And I definitely, definitely dislike those who are in your face with their beliefs. A thoughtful discussion is fine. But let's face it, you are not going to change my mind and I doubt I will change yours.

But we do need to stop the emotional, flippant comments, on both sides, and we must learn to work together. Compromise and diplomacy would be a breath of fresh air to me.

Kylez, Please don't be too hard on those bad spellers. My husband's mom, my husband and our daughter can't spell. All are brilliant at math, but all get lost going around the block and can't spell for anything. Being a good speller myself, it took me a long time to accept and understand this.

When our daughter tested very high in all subjects except for spelling, the tester told me to be happy as most gifted kids test high in either language or math, but not both. I asked her what I could do about her spelling and she said just buy her a spell check as, in her experience, kids with this particular spelling dyslexia will always struggle with it. "It's a minor subject, don't worry about it." (her words)

As a good speller, I have noticed that my brain retains a "photo" of how words are spelled and, if I am really stuck, I can write out the word and check my memory of how the word should look.

Their brains do not retain any such configuration...lol. Phonics helped my daughter a little, but there are too many words that are not phonetically spelled and even more that don't follow "the rules."

I worked with a brilliant, brilliant neonatologist for years who was board certfied in both neonatology and infectious diseases. She was amazing with math. And never could spell the word "maybe." :-)

The standardization of spelling is a very recent phenomen, BTW. It wasn't until the 1800's (after Webster's dictionary) that there was a "right" way to spell a word.

Trying to get correct info for a dispatch from those who cannot speak understandable (to me anyway) English/American from a 'call center' and they get 'upset' at me for asking for clarification of what they are saying. (I often ask for clarificaton to verify I understood anyone, as I am also).

I work (part time/when needed) for a company. In some cases, the State/county/city sets the fees that have to be charged - no option. Don't try to tell me that I'm a 'crook' or try to intimidate me to lower legal SET FEES!

I have several pet peves but
I have several pet peves but the 2 that are at the top are people who do not know how to drive(way to many) and people that can not speak or understand English.

What drives me nuts? Incompetence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People who take their dogs
People who take their dogs out without having them on a leash. Nothing like walking around the corner with your Chihuahua on a leash and coming face to face with a Rottweiler.

And it is the season - election season. I'm talking about people who parrot a political statement and don't even know what the heck they're talking about. They just decide something is the way it is because someone else said it, or a TV ad shouts it so many times it's embedded in their psyche. Most likely, neither the parrot nor the herald of the original announcement did any research on which to base this proclamation at all. But they'll swear they're right and so and so is best because and so and so is a so and so.

By the way, this is most people in this country. I keep my mouth shut when I don't have information to back something up. Just ask someone to explain why they make such statements - most people can't. If they can, then listen - especially if it's contrary to your views.

OK I have another Pet Peeve too
Jumping to conclusions!! While at work this past week, a young woman walked by dressed in lowcut jean cut off shorts, bikini top, lots of tattoos, messy,dirty hair, and bare feet.. I heard several comments from customers belittling her after she walked by...
But we don't know her situation, a lot of terrible things could have happened to that young girl in her lifetime. You just never know.

When I see peebles who take up 2 spots crookedly, I figure they are ones who have problems with driving safely and probably should have their license revoked.

For those of us who have/need 3/4t or 1t full size trucks (my daily driver is a Bronco II so it flips in spots easy but my pulling truck is a 3/4t, 4X4, extended cab, long box), some lots today have such small spots that it requires 4 spots to fit them in width wise (side to side - especially duallys) and length wise (end to end - especially crew cabs).

Amazingly enough, although we have a leash law, and I have personally spoken to several of my neighbors very politely asking them to tether their dogs, they seem hellbent on walking the dogs without a leash. I've stopped taking walks in the neighborhood with my pets. When I do go for a walk with my husband I carry dog-specific pepper spray.

You have no control over the space size so no biggy. Yeah the trucks are longer nowdays and if you have the money for gas (I never do) great. It is usually the ones with a new sports car. If you are that worried you can buy these leather door protectors. Interesingly the ones made for the front of the car are called bras. If you want to avoid dings in the door buy a door bra rather than take up two spaces parking cockeyed.

My Bronco runs cheaper than my Dodge (pulling/ranch truck) and much smaller so I drive it most of the time. We have horses so need something that is big enough to handle whatever has to be done. When weather gets really bad - I always drive my Dodge in the worst weather for my safety becauase it's bigger. It is amazing how many 'Idjots' think because they have a 4X4 car, they're fine to drive as if there is no snow/ice on the roads. Different parts of the country are different in what is 'norm'. I still say around HERE, the ones who park 'kank-a-wankus' are ones with driving issues - probably NOT true in many other areas.

OHH - I saw a really NEAT sports car on the road the other day - an Avanti!.
