Hey Fox,
Wish you were a little closer; John and I would take you out for that beer (or beers) and/or give you full access to his medicine cabinet, which includes Marinol(synthetic THC), the closest thing we have to that oregano product.

Don't worry Fox.. you will do fine. The way i see it, you have come through a lot and are stronger than this disease. I know the waiting game is the worst. I don't know how far Alice lives from you, but i bet that bike can take you there!

I know the waiting game.... I'm four weeks off meds and I dread the next set of scans. Fox, you know my prayers are with you. Deep breaths, my friend. Beer and oregano products sound like a great combination. I'll see what I can do for you. LOL. I'm guessing Marinol is like using edibles...inhaling is a different high. You go for it! I'll send you a bag of Oreos.

Max, I usually have my scan the friday before my infusion on weds. Thats when I get my results. Since I had missed a treatment back in the spring, I'm always afraid some reason will come up and I will be discontinued from the MDX. Such as having my blood work revealing the need for Paula's oreos! (I don't know if it is banned. I hate to ask, as that would be reason enough to check for it.) Not a chance I am willing to take yet. And somehow marinol just doesn't seem to go with sitting in my room with a blacklight and In-a-gotta-di-vida blarring. However, I will admit to having bought several bags of PEZ. As for beer, this is the first year in about 10 that I didn't make my own. I usually make about 10 gallons in the spring. So now,I have to flush my remaining kidney with assist from Anhueser Bush. Bass Ale and Dos Equis are my favorites but thats for taste not making waste.
And one of the best things about Harleys is that I CAN get to Alice and Johns on my way to Paulas for those Oreos!0 -

Scan Results
Fox best of luck with your scan results. I will have my first CT/MRI scans in four weeks. So the waiting is going to drive me nuts. Are you allowed to alcohol drink while you are in treatment with MDX (BMS-936558)? If you can then you are lucky. I am taking Votrient (Panzopanib) and they do not want me drinking ANY alcohol.
PS - How many Mets did you originally have and how many do you have now? Just curious, in case I can get into a MDX (BMS-936558) clinical trail myself.0 -

As far as alcohol goes, I don't think I was told not to drink. I'm only a beer drinker. My liver function tests are always good, so that is not an issue. Before I qualified for treatment my Doctor asked me how much beer I drank. I told her sometimes as many as 8. She looked at me like, "How the hell can you walk?" I had to explain that I was a guy.( She didn't know I was a biker or golfer yet). She is a more proper lady who probably sips 1 glass of wine over several hours and gets buzzed. The other issue is that if I am in the last stage of my life, I have no need to save anything. And I will do whatever I want. Sort of an unofficial bucket list. (with my wifes blessing) I drink beer and eat pizza as much as I want. Like I've said many times, "If I had a 3 piece suit, I would probably wear it to mow the lawn." I even wear dress shirts to work on the car!
As far as mets go, I've had somewhere in the 20ish number since last October. Something like a dozen in the lungs...and I was jogging 3 miles every other day...at least 4 in the liver, 4or so in the bones, a half dozen in the nodes, and my kidney. Maybe more.
I guess now you know why I have become the poster boy for MDX-1106. I hope that doesn't change tomorrow when I go for my infusion and get my latest scan results. It is that repeated quote about sliding into heaven full speed in a cloud of dust burning up at the end. And not safely walking in after a shower and clean shave. It's all about the ride!0 -

John's alcohol intake has gone down substantially by choice since being diagnosed, but he still has a beer/glass of wine a few times a week. He has been given no restriction regarding alcohol, and he's on the MDX/Votrient trial.
But it may depend on liver function. So far so good in John's case.0 -
