Tina's in the hospital

So Tina has not been feeling so well over the past few weeks due to stomach spasms coming and going. This weekend seemed to be more so than weeks before but they started feeling better by Sunday. Monday still feeling good I made supper she ate well drank her delicious contrast for her CT scheduled for this morning. Unbeknownst to me (heavy sleeper) she was up several times in the night having very bad spasms and throwing up. Go to work this morning and boom she called and said she was having spasms so bad in her abdomen that she almost passed out and had thrown up for an hour and a half straight. Came home she’s curled up into a ball on the bed so I called the ambulance. Got to the ER did a CT came back Dr said it looked like it was a bowl obstruction where they did her resection during he debulking in 09 and was going to talk with the surgeon who did the surgery. Ok so later the surgeon looks over the CT and says don’t think so as she was moving stool through there says he conferred with her Onc and both agreed he needs to go right in tomorrow as it may or may not be a cancer tumor. So they admitted her put in an NG tube which is very unpleasant to say the least. We’re both really scared. Told the kids they were going in to take care of the obstruction and mums the word on the rest. I’m fried and very tired just thought I’d let you all know what’s up.

    Dave, I'm on the uterine
Dave, I'm on the uterine board, but as a lot of others I "lurk" and have been following you and Tina. All of this just is just not right, seems like you never get a break! I will be praying for the both of you. Tina seems like the dearest kind of person and I really admire you for your love and caring. Tina is one lucky lady! Hope all turns out well and please, get some rest and take care of your health. Best, debrajo

Blood counts to low for surgery
So the surgeon came in this morning to tell Tina her blood counts had dropped in the night and that he and her Onc agreed to postpone surgery until tomorrow. They will give her meds and try to get things up to safe surgical levels. Another sleepless night for both of us I guess.

    SORRY TO HEAR THIS, DAVE
Please know that you and Tina are in my prayers tonight. And whatever it is, that they can take care of it right away. The both of you must be so exhausted. And I know the NG tube is not fun. My husband had a bowel obstruction and they used that on him - they told me to leave the room when they put it in. I had an NG tube for both of my surgeries, but it was put in when I was in surgery. It was, however, removed when I was awake a few days later, which I'm sure was easier than putting it in.

Hugs and Prayers to you both.

    Thank you so much everyone
They let me stay and hold her hand while they put the NG in Monika. Its not a pretty site and they did have problems inserting it. The good news is she pooped early this morning so the urgency for surgery has dropped a few levels. They have not taken out the NG tube just unhooked it to see how things go first and if there are no problems they will take it out. The surgeon said this does not eliminate the need for surgery but buys them some time to get her blood counts up and more time for them to find her blood and get it here. The onc came in last night around 7:45 and talked with us for about 45 minutes about his new plans. He feels that being the hand is basically dealt at this point that the surgeon that did the first debulking will go in for and I quote: optimum debulking/second look. Never heard those words used in the same sentence it's usually one or the other. He said the surgeon will also try to get to the two tumors and remove them if possible and if he can't he will at the minimum try to biopsy them. I get the impression the onc feels there's more cancer than the two tumors that are showing up on the scans. Is this possible? Anyone heard of this or had it happen.

    Blockage is still there
So they sent her for an upper GI test this morning but never started it as the first X-ray showed contrast still in there from Monday night. My head is about to explode. I'll get back to ya when I know something solid. Right now everything is up in the air again.

    Dave,

I am so sorry you and Tina are going through so much. I think the emotional "roller coaster" rides are the hardest. The unknown is always the hardest part. Prayers for both of you.

I had this same scenario but they did the Upper GI test and found it was not blocked and the cancer was growing on the outside of the bowel and I needed to be back on chemo. PET and CT scans did not even show it. It was a horrible experience. I actually went to the ER 4 times before I got admitted and they found the problem. You guys have my prayers. Let us know how it turns out

    Surgery this afternoon and I
Surgery this afternoon and I cannot lie I'm scared as hell to hear the outcome. The surgeon reiterated how risky the surgery is given her condition.
