Can you share some smoothie recipes with me?

Okay...I've seen a lot of posts on smoothies in the past and I just got out the old blender and am wanting to eat a bit better ...so I thought I would try some healthy smoothies (for those of you who don't know, my pre-cancer life was a really bad diet - you don't get to be 320lbs and have a good diet). I might have had 5 smoothies my entire life :)
I'm not gaining weight but I'm not losing anymore and I'd like to do two things: Lose another 25lbs and just plain eat healthier (can't keep eating soft scrambled eggs the way I have been - breakfast is my favorite meal, bacon and cheese grits too).
So if anybody would care to share ....give me some recipes (vitamins or herbs included)
Thanks all...
Tim

Hi Tim,
You old smoothie, you mean to tell me you have been living on scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese grits? That sounds good to me.
Because I drink so many smoothies I keep it simple:
10oz 1% milk, 1 banana or ½ cup of blueberries (or fruit of your choice) hand full of almonds, protein powder (vanilla or chocolate), 2 to 4 tablespoons of canola oil and 1 to 2 packets of Sweet’n Low. For a grand total of over 900 calories.
Pretty boring, but simple.
Today at my Dad’s 91st birthday I had;
Salmon
Scalloped potatoes
Tomatoes w/olive oil
Corn-on-cob (buttered and salted)
Italian sausage
Chocolate cake & ice cream
To be honest, the only two I really ate much of was the corn and tomatoes
Good luck,

Here's to eating healthy!
Before Cancer I went from 238 to 198. At 238 pounds, I used 40 units of insulin per day plus metformin. At 198, I no longer needed the insulin. My last A1C was 6.3 (less than 7.0 is the target). What is my diet?
Well, I never simply eliminated anything. I substituted good foods for bad foods. And the bad foods were not totally banned. I just did not eat them at home.
My natural instincts would have me be a 2 doughnut a day man. But now, I have one doughnut per week when out. Eliminating 13 doughnuts a week makes a difference. And since I haven't totally given up on my cravings, it doesn't seem has hard.
Now to answer your question: I use a juicer rather than a blender. Oranges, apples, carrots, strawberries, pineapple go in. Not all at the same time. Also, I always add a Whey Protein Powder. Costco has pineapple nicely cut up in a big trey.
I also drink prune juice from a bottle (wonder why?). Rick.0 -
mine
we use frozen fruit, i like my colder than cold
i put in some blueberries, peaches, strawberries all frozen and nuke them slightly to help with the grinding. then i add some cold water out of fridge top off with a fresh banana..... love them
blueberries are my favorite in oatmeal, pancakes, waffles and smoothies.... amazing how they help the moisture in mouth and throat
i know i need to get some protein powder but forget every time i go to the store (thanks for the reminder :-) )
good luck with your recipes

Hi Tim,
just a point on the blender side, a regular blender doesn't have
the power to give you the full benefits of mixing smoothies.
The blender only mixes and move things around whereas an
emulsifier is the best for making healthy drinks as this breaks
down the fruits , veggies and their skins ( where most nutrients are )
and liquifys them so you get all the benefits of what you put in it.
The best out there is the "Vitamix" ($400 and up ) but I actually got
the new " Nutribullet" ($99) from the same company that makes the
Magic bullet. My wife bought me the "Ninja blender" ($200) which
is good but it doesn't " Emulsify"
About recipies just go on line and search or just experiment
with what fruits and veg you like ( or don't ) the fruit masks the taste
of the veg. Also you can add "Alive or any multi nutrient in powder form"
Hope this helps.
God bless
Tonsil dad,
