Update on Linda Simmons from her Caringbridge blog..
Written 41 minutes ago
Hi, this is Lisa Martin, logging in for Linda. She and I wanted to update you on what’s been going on.
Yesterday she was admitted into the hospital after spending the night at emergency. For the past several weeks, since radiation, she has been having really bad headaches in addition to the ear infection, and has been sleeping for 20 hours a day. Her fever and chills seems to have finally subsided, but the headache and nausea is worse, and the skin blistering and swelling is also spreading over her head and face. She’s getting morphine every 2 hours to help with the pain, and they have her on iv’s and resting. The doctor said they think it’s a reaction to the brain radiation, but they don’t really know anything else.
Her CAT scan showed no brain swelling and that everything seemed fine. Blood work was normal too. No MRI scheduled at this time, and the doctor feels she should be hospitalized until the severe pain is managed and the nausea is better, as there is a concern for dehydration.
Karl is doing great at holding down the fort with the kids; Gabe’s football team won the game on Friday night, and even though Mom & Dad were at the hospital, they are very proud of him! Karl’s also been shuttling the kids around and managing everything between hospital visits, and I have a huge favor to ask.
If anyone can help get a few meals over to their house to ease the pressure and make one less thing for them to worry about, that would be greatly appreciated! I’m trying to do the planner on this Caringbridge website, but still trying to figure it out. Please email me at lmartin1008@gmail.com if you can help and when. I’ll do a manual calendar until I can get it otherwise organized. Dinner this evening is already taken care of (Sunday night.)
Thank you for your support and prayers. I am organizing another yard sale in the next couple weeks to raise some more money for her medical fund checking account to help defray the daily co-pay of the hospital and other things. If you can donate for this, please let us know; it will be at Linda’s house, so drop off can be there, coordinated with Karl’s and my schedule. If you need more information on the yard sale or the account, please email me as well.

Thank you Jan for posting this update on Linda. She's in my prayers.
We all knew something wasn't right...no posts from her in a good while...God bless her...thanks so much for the update...we've all been so worried about Linda......you might not be aware of this, on this site most of us live all over the country, so we can't supply meals....I would gather her friend's who are local and start a meal plan.....my friend's did it for us last year, for six weeks...what a blessing that was...but most brought way to much food...so we just started Monday, Wednesday and Friday....but with kids in the house, especially a teenage son, every day meals would probably work for Linda.. If we wanted to donate $ to help out, who would we mail it to? And who should the check be made out to?....you could send this info in a private message, if you don't want it public and we could share the info amongst our selves privately......
I feel so helpless...we have the same type of breast cancer and I had brain radiation before she did.....I understand the fatigue all to well....
PLEASE send our love and tell her we pray for her...we care, deeply...
Hugs to you and Linda...she's lucky to have such a wonderful friend...keep us updated when you can....
Hugs, Nancy

If you would like to donate to Linda's fund...Kristin N said:Thank you Jan for posting
Thank you Jan for posting this update on Linda. She's in my prayers.
I don't know who Lisa is -- Linda's sister, maybe? Can anyone clarify that?
But I'd like to donate to the fund for Linda's medical expenses that she mentions. So that she doesn't have to deal with a flood of emails on top of everything else she's so lovingly organizing, I'll send her an email asking for information on where checks can be sent -- as soon as I hear back from her, I'll post here, and, if you'd like to donate, you can PM me for the info.

I knew you gals were worried, that's why I posted it. I saw the info on Linda's blog. Nancy, you are right we are all over the map. I'm in Canada and joined CSN in 07 so it's truly international, I too wish I could send her family some meals but I'm going to donate to her fund instead. As you all know cancer is the gift that keeps on giving and now it's hurting her finances in a big way. So it's wonderful you'd like to donate.
Lisa has been Linda's friend for over 22 yrs and she's the one Linda spent her vacation in Montana with. She has been active on Linda's blog and has stepped up to the plate like an amazing friend to help the family in this time of need.
You can contact Lisa at this email: lmartin1008@gmail.com for further information. She has consented to the posting of her email address on this site in order to help Linda.
Hugs to you all

I know Cynthia, I could see how worried everyone was. I checked in here when she no longer posted on FB or her blog and could easily see how so many others were as worried as I was. As you know the worry deepens each day we don't hear something. Linda would never ask for anything but thank goodness she has a friend that is looking out for her and her family. They are having numerous garage sales for her medical fund and along with the meals, emotional support from friends and family...prayers, good thoughts, vibes, magic wands and witches brews to help her and the family...well, we can't lose, right? Right!0 -
