Hello dear hearts

I am now hooked up and getting my first unit. We had some initial problems with the orders, so typical. But now things are flowing smoothly. I can feel your loving support. I was a little nervous this morning, but feel a lot calmer now. Ha. Maybe it's the Pre meds working.
I hope you all are having a good and happy Friday.
I will check inl later.

John, I hope you are now home and resting. Hopefully your morning was uneventful and easy.
Rest up today, that Benadryl really makes you loopy and tired.

    I guess I've got you "tuned in" cause I just got on a few minutes ago.
    Hope things go extraordinarily well and you start feeling better
    very soon! Glad you're calmer and hope you relax and sleep during this
    today. Hopefully you got a twist of lime or a couple olives with your
    "Elixir" ;) ?

    Hi Jim

    I am doing okay right now. I have had some pretty bad pain in my hand, that's where the iv is located. I guess the blood is just so thick and the hand veins are just so tiny, the combination causes bad pain. The nurse asked the onc for some dilaudid for the pain, and I do feel less of it. Thank goodness.

    The nurse just started the second unit, and I am praying that the hand pain does not get too bad again. Unfortunately I can feel it starting to hurt again. Just hope that it remains minimal.

    Hubby is bringing me some odwalla juice, so that will have to do as my cocktail, no lime...

    I will check back later. The lasix is starting to kick in.

    I got home,went in the bedroom,turned on the Western channel and off I went. Got up a few minutes ago to check on you. Still light-headed,but not that bad. Hopefully all you will need is the 2 units.I wonder how long it will take before you notice a difference in your energy level. I know it takes a while to build the blood cells up,but since you are getting a transfusion you may start to feel better with more energy rather quickly. The more RBC's and the more O2 to your cells. I know the bottom line is to get your body to start producing its own RBC's. I am assuming you are getting whole blood. Anyway I just wanted to check on you to see how all is going. I will be checking in again all night. John

    I'm sorry about the vein pain and hopefully that has gotten better.

    I just took some benadryl (allergies/sinuses acting up) - I suppose
    I'll be dopier than usual soon ;).

    LOL - John. Well, it obviously hasn't knocked me out yet.
    I was watching something on TV and decided to get a little ice cream
    and do a quick check here. I can have ice cream at 12:30am if I want too ;).

    Had a rough time getting on this morning. Just wanted to check in to see if you were feeling any better today. I know you went thru a lot yesterday so it may take a while. Be checking in as the day goes by. John

    Hi Lisha,

    Just saw your posts; Hope the remainder of yesterday went better and that you are much better today. I saw my mom go through the same issues with blood transfusions that you described. It does take alot out of you!!! Hopefully with the transfusion, your energy level is much improved---are you dancin' yet?

    Knowing you went through a lot yesterday---hope it's better now!!
