Don Reed has passed
I had the honor of meeting Don last week, and he was quite a guy. He was dying and he of course knew it, he was on powerful pain meds and was hooked up to some machinery 24/7, yet he apologized to me for not being good company (!) and he did his best to try and keep his eyes open and be part of any conversations. He was surrounded by love not only from his wife and daughter, but by a large group of close friends who visited the evening I was there and who were clearly deeply moved by his plight.
I know we’re all sad at Don’s passing, but I’m also relieved that he’s no longer suffering. Rest in peace, my friend.

So very very sad
How my heart is breaking right now! I'm so deeply saddened but at the same time relieved that he is no longer in pain. I was so distressed hearing about how much pain he had to endure and what poor Judy was going through trying to get to the bottom of it.
I think it is wonderful that you rode out and got a chance to meet Don, Judy and Caitlin in person.
Thank you Bob and FEC!

Thank you for bringing us news, Bob...
Awful, heart wrenching news, but the passing of another warrior will not go unnoticed.
Judy - my heart breaks for you and Caitlin. This is all too close to home and too damn soon. You have been an amazing caregiver and so capable when fighting for your man. I'm proud of you!
Congratulations on getting Don home. He willed himself to make it there, and you made it possible.
I'm glad family and friends were close by. I'm glad you were holding his hand - Caitlin too. I had tight hold of Nick's hand as he left me. I won't ever forget that last touch.
Be strong - I know you are. Know we are here for you. Know that I'm only a phone call away - at any hour!
Hugs & Love. My mojo now goes to you, kiddo.

Oh, Judy ...
I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart is also saddened. He was truly blessed to have been given such a strong support system. You did EVERYTHING humanly possible to make his last days as comfortable as possible. You should be proud and relieved he passed without pain and surrounded by the people and things he loved most in the world.0 -

Don was flown on eagles wings to his Lord. He is at peace and pain free. He smiles down on you now and forever. He will always be there for you.
So very sad and shocked that Don's wife Judy was banned from this site 3 days after her husband died of esophageal cancer.0
