Surgery 11 OCT
The journey begins!! I am nervous but ready. I know it will be a long road to recovery. My Goal is to be able to put something on the grill AND eat it next Summer!!! So if you in NC next Summer I will let you know the date and place :-)
It will be done half by "Robot" The Three incision method to remove the esophagus in the Divinci OR room and the other half by the Chief of General Surgery.
I will keep you all posted as I make this journey. Thank you for your support and continued support.

Steak next summer
Here is to steak on the grill next summer!!!
I had Ivor Lewis surgery in 2009 and I had my first steak about four months after surgery. I have to admit it was not a large steak, and I took small bites with lots of chewing in between bites, but I did have steak. Now I eat pretty much everything I want just smaller amounts at a time.
Best of luck on your surgery.
Best Regards,
Paul Adams

All Right!!!
Good to see you are getting ready for this. It is a long road but a good one with your family at your side.
I had the THE this past January and feel great now. There are some issues with eating and the like but as time goes by things do definitely get better.
Solider On!!!

Master P,
So glad you're
Master P,
So glad you're going to have your surgery in Oct. To me, that was when I felt my fight was almost over. From there it was just healing and adjusting to new ways of life.
I still have trouble with my throat closing up, but the last dilation was several months ago and even though it's not 100% open, it's the best one yet. Because of this I stay away from steak, But tonight I ate about two ounces, cut in tiny bites and chewed, chewed, chewed. It was delish, and well worth the trouble.
Good luck and be sure to post.
