Hair Loss Years After Chemo

Hello - I am 27 years old, and a 25 year cancer survivor. The type of cancer I had was hemangeopericytoma(sp?) I had a year of chemo and radiation and have been considered cancer free since the age of 5. Ever since shortly after my hair coming back in following chemo, my hair seems to fall out at an alarming rate. Growing up I can recall my mother having me vacuum all of my hair up off the bathroom floor, each time I brushed my hair. I am now 27, and this problem seems to be getting worse. When I get out of the shower and my hair is wet, if I run my hands through my hair, I get a handful of hair. My parents have always been convinced that it is from the chemo that I had as a child, but no doctor has confirmed this. I would like to know if any other post chemo adults have experienced anything similar? If so, what, if anything, can I do about this? I'm a mom of 4 now, and have to clean my own house, which means, I end up stepping outside just to brush my hair!! HELP!

Hair loss years after chemo
Tamra,
I came across your post in search of the same answers. I, too, lose a lot of hair and have thought it was due to the chemo. I'm not really sure what to do at this point since I've just started looking for answers. My problem is that on the top of my head my hair is pretty thin, it didn't fill in really full. I have used Rogaine for the past year and the results are okay, but not what I want obviously. I know it's been 6 years since you posted your comment and an wondering if you have found out anything since???
