Dirty Girl Mud Run
It is not your ordinary 5k. It is loaded with an obstacle course and the whole thing is in the mud. Good thing because it is going to be 65 and rain today.
Wish me luck... This is for all of us.....
If you wanna check it out go to wwww.godirtygirl.com

Oh Felicia is is a BLAST..... You will love it. Ours was held at a ski resort so the hardest part was walking up the huge ski hill to the top but it was so worth it.... I had a blast with my friends and it was great to get out and do something totally normal (if you call rolling in mud normal)lol and just have fun. It was a great day and honestly I did not think about my cancer once (well maybe once when I got a pain in my side) bt that was just a cramp that went away.. This morning I am sore from all the exercise but I wouldn't give up 1 minute of the fun I had yesterday. I wore my teal fight like a girl t shirt with black shorts and I looked like a buoy in a sea of pink and black but I didnt care. Then after we changed I wore a bight white and teal shirt that said ovarian cancer messed with the wrong chick..... You will have a blast... Go dirty girl.0 -

I just registered for the dirty girl mud run in San Jose on October 27. I texted a friend to see if she wanted to join me. She hasn't texted back but I signed up anyway because there were only 4 slots left for survivors.
This is so beyond my comfort zone but I think it would be a lot of fun. If my friend can't make it I'll have to find someone else because I would not be comfortable doing it alone. I have never been a pysical person and now at this age, carrying extra pounds and not to mention a cancer recurrence it will be a huge challenge. I know they will accomodate survivors but it will still be daunting.
I have been wanting to do something out of the box if for no other reason to say, "Hey cancer, I'm still here and look what I can do."
Stay close ladies, I need your encouragement.

GOOD FOR YOU...
Karen...
GOOD FOR YOU... I am so happy you will do it.... It was the most rewarding experience and at the end it felt so great when I threw my hands in the air and said "Hey Cancer - You can't take me down".... We had such a blast. I am sure if you put word out you were doing it you would find someone that is doing it. I did it with the two ladies I work with at my school, 3 from the health office at the middle school and about 62 other people. Out of those 62 on our team I knew our group. The rest was friends of friends and co workers of friends etc.
I was way out of my comfort zone doing this but you know what ~ I'm not sure if I even have a limit to my comfort zone anymore. I will try anything once......lol
The accomplishment I felt yesterday when I was done ranked right up there with the sense of victory I felt when I was told I was NED...

I am in awe and admiration of you for signing up for this! Please know that timid people like me are living vicariously through your accomplishments. Who knows, some day I may actually do this.
Thank you!

I am one of the most timid people in the world. I just want to do something different and when I read about it here and saw there was only two runs in California and one is 30 miles from here, it was like a sign.

the Dirty Girl Mud Run. Yesterday I registered myself while waiting to hear back from a couple of friends. They agreed to participate with me and I was wondering if you knew if I could register them as I want to pay their registration.
I have called numerous times and the recording says to leave a voicemail which I did. I also sent an email. I looked on facebook and saw that their website is down. I am getting worried because there were about 60 spots left in the time I chose.
I was going to just go ahead and register them but now the website is down.

Karen I believe if you go on you can. There may be a button that says registar someone else. If not registar them and just use your form of payment. You will need a team name (I think). When I registered I did it under a team name. Come up with a team name and registar them under it. You do not have to change your registration. You will be assigned a wave and time. They send a group out every 15 minutes. That is called a wave. Survivors can do any wave they want. You will have so much fun and I am so proud of you for going out of your comfort zone and doing this.
I know the site was down because I got an email to sign up for next years and went in to do it and the site was down. It is back up now.
I hope you and your friends have as much fun as we did. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I got a response to my email and we're all set. I named our team "Teal Chicas." I think it is going to be a lot of fun. I can't wait to get down and dirty. I am so glad I saw your post about this. It's weird how a person doesn't hear about things. I have gone online before to see if there was anything in my area that I could participate in and didn't find anything. This will more than make up for it.

Karen I had never heard of it till my friend sent me the link to it. She told me she wanted me to do it with them. At that time I was in chemo and didn't feel like gettiing off the couch to go to the bathroom much less exercise...lol She talked me into signing up and I am so glad she did.
You have as long as you want to complete it so take your time and pace yourself and most of all have fun and get dirty. Come on.. When is the last time you played in a mud puddle. If you don't feel you can do an obstacle you can walk around it. There was a wall we had to scale. I skipped that. I was worried that I would hit my power port when I rolled over the top so I passed that one.0
