I don't think I should watch these programs. I am bawling like a baby. The little boy Justin has won my heart forever.

    Stand up
    That was a very sad and moving show. It is so sad to see what this nasty disease does to people. I donated money to help the research. I hope to see a cure for cancer before I leave this earth. I stood up and hopefully made a difference.

    Wasn't sure
    I wasn't sure I should watch but hubby was watching so I stuck it out but I had the most awful crying headache afterward. I cried from start to finish.

    I decided I shouldn't watch
    I've watched the Stand Up to Cancer telethons every year for the past several years, and sob pretty much from beginning to end. They're very moving and inspirational, but they just hit too close to home for me, even now, 2 1/2 years out of treatment.

    So, this year, I decided my mental health didn't need another night of crying....Friday nights are when I treat myself to hours upon hours of those frothy, vapid TLC bridal shows (Say Yes to the Dress, I Found the Gown, etc.). So I spent the evening looking at pretty bridal gowns and making armchair judgements about what looks good and omigod, she wants to wear THAT on her wedding day? :-)

    (does that make me a bad cancer survivor? :-)

    Traci, me too!
    I started watching it and I started feeling all those scary, bad feelings of knowing I'm surrounded by this disease - the kind I felt in the chemo room. It's like flash backs. Maybe, next year will be better.

    I'm soooo out of the loop...I have no idea what this is.....is it like the Jerry Lewis Teleton for MD? Actually I'm glad, from reading some of the posts, that I didn't know anything about this.....I cry over Hallmark cards.....Traci, you're not a "bad" survivor...heck, look at me, I didn't have a clue!

    Let's support research, because once they find out what causes cancer they can cure it....and continue to find new drugs that keep the beast stable...

    Stand Up to Cancer funds cancer research--which I really like. I do usually make a donation. And I can't watch more than about 10 minutes as it is just masochistic for me to watch any more ;-)



    "With the exception of a 10% endowment for possible future investments, the funds raised by SU2C will go as immediately as possible toward research. 100% of publicly donated funds go to research, none to overhead costs. 70% of funds will go to scientific "dream teams" established by experts, including the American Association for Cancer Research.[4] Teams picked will be subject to mandated collaboration in hopes of accelerating research. The remaining 20% of funds will go to innovative young investigators who might not otherwise gain funding.[5]

    SU2C "dream teams" will be composed of scientific experts, patient advocates, and experts in pre-clinical trial data.     Sadness...
    Life has enough sadness without actively seeking it out. I never watch these sort of programs.

    I am always upset in novels when of course if the woman character going to have something, it's breast cancer! Why not some other disease is what I like to know. How about smallpox for a change of pace, at least there is a treatment for it.

    That is wonderful that it won't be going into "overhead". They should all work that way, or their CEO's should have normal salaries and not make their entire family wealthy off the funds raise for research.

    I did watch it and was very moved
    But, it's okay not to watch it also. I did have a good cry--seeing those babies being so strong made me want to be all the stronger as well. I, too, am so sick of those pink-banner waving charities with CEOs making in the upper 6-figure range--not with my money you won't. This one seems so geared to research toward finding a cure for all cancers. I like that and I'll support this one for sure.

    I also enjoyed the entertainment--Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and Alisha Keys were great!

    I will say that before I made my donation, I asked if 100% of the money goes to research and was told it did. Otherwise I might not have donated money. As Renee said my money is not going into someone's hands that already makes 6 figures. Hopefully one day there will be a cure
