To all my friends, NED again !!!!!

Hi Everyone
Just wanted all of my CSN friends to know that I am now 2.5 years out and am NED once again on my recent PET scan. I am happy as H*LL. We all have that shoe waiting to drop feeling, don't we? This was probably the best NED, since the first one, as I was beginning to wonder about a recurrence,(that other shoe.)

I want to tell all of you how much you have meant to me over these last 30 months. I am not on the site much anymore, because I need to not think about Cancer all that I can. As you all know it is on your mind all the time when you are up to your ankles in it.

I have many CSN friends that I see very little on here or not at all anymore, because they have moved on (I hope positively, but some I know we lost). I need to name a few people that are special to me, even though they don't know it. Adventure Bob, D Lewis, Hondo, Glenna, Kent Cass, patty anny,Osmotar, Jim &I, Kimba, puma kitty, dennis, jimbo, Greg, fisrpotpe, Ratface, Soccerfreaks, Hal61, Arndog and of course Sweetblood. I could go on with more names but you get my point. I needed these folks alot from jan 2010 when I came on board till sometime this year. At some point, I saw all my old friends leaving. There were new faces and names that came here and I felt like I needed to stay away and let you all, in the heat of the battle, help yourselves from start to finish, like those of us who are not here much anymore did.

I must acknowledge Skiffin John here. He has been here since I got here and is still upbeat and helping all you special folks that come here looking for answers and a happy tone. It is not easy to be that kind of helper. Stay on John, you are needed in ways you'll never know. I call you a friend even though we have never met, but I'd recognize your humor anytime and I'd love to try meet you someday. You are a good man (and probably a fair fisherman, lol.)

I will be on here from time to time going forward, but I wanted you all to know today that this crap does get better. That's why I posted my NED diagnosis, so that you can see that life gets better. I still have issues and am learning my "new normal". We are all at different levels of normal. But Skiffin John is somewhat Abi-normal as you all know.

All you newbies, just hang in there and help each other. Give advice, give love and prayers, and accept what others need to say. Because in a couple years, you'll see other "newbies" and you may offer advice, but not at the level that they may need. You too will move on and find your new normal and new happiness. Life, afterall, is very, very good and it is up to us to be happy. May you all find your happiness.
I am including you all on this site in my prayers and thoughts going forward.
All the best,
Steve

    Steve,
Thanks for your post. It means a lot to me. My husband is just starting the process and it is good to hear from someone who has made it to the otherside. You have said things I have needed to hear and as a newbie I want you to know it is appreciated.

    Wonderful news, Steve.....
....and a great post. I too have found great comfort on this site from the first day of my diagnosis in March, and am still finding comfort here (much from some of the very people you acknowledged :))....

I am very happy for your 2.5 years of NED's....us newbies need to hear about these because as you said, there is that little place in our minds that reconizes reoccurances can happen...and it scares us. The more NED's I hear about the more positive I stay about my own future and the future of my friends who were on my treatment bus with me...

Right now what I am....is HUNGARY....LOLOLOL....I've been saying that for a week this time around. :)

    Steve,

Thanks for the updaye and congrats on the NED. I too do not visit as much as I use to, even though Jim is still fighting the battle (lungs this time. My prayer is that you continue to heal and all the PETs are NED for many years.

    Blessings,

    Hi Steve,

I am glad you crossed the 2.5 year threshold with NED. This has been a heck of a scary ride, but many of you “oldies” give me an (always) needed blast of hopefulness. Keep on living your life you must be doing something right.

    Best,

    Matt

    Great!
Love to hear it! I, too, have wandered off, and don't spend nearly as much time here as I used to. Great to wander in, and see such good news.

    Great News
    Steve,
Great post to read this morning, it's like graduation, looking out into the sea of faces. Your post givs us all that hope that life maybe not as we once lived it does go on..as for Skiffin his phrase Abi-normal should be added to the dictionary. Please if you are ever visiting family in this area of the wid west, let me know,a meet n greet would be wonderful.

    Lovin' NED
Great news! I have been on this site since August 2010 and sometimes I reply to things other times I simply just read and absorb. But the site has and does help me emotionally. I have been friends with NED since October 2010 and keep my fingers crossed all of the time...that "other shoe" syndrome. cancer (I HATE to capitalize that effin word) never leaves your mind but happily it does leave our bodies. Stay strong man and thanks for the uplifting post.

    Survivor Steve.....
    I liiiiike it, LOL...

Awesome news and thanks for the kudos Steve.... I love this site and the people on it. Not sure why exactly, but I have a passion...maybe it's just my way of trying to give back and enjoying survivorship, and wanting to share that. trying to convey to those going through the war right now, that you can and will win.

As you can tell, my buddy Vivian reeeealllly liked your post as well...sorry had to pick on someone a little bit.

Best to you buddy, and if you ever make it to Central Florida, definitely look me up.

    Thanks to all of you
NED is a great thing and I wish it for us all. I wanted to say howdy to old friends hoping they are now NED and off enjoying life.
To all those we lost, my heart goes out to the caregivers. As I said to another caregiver, the patient doesn't just get cancer, the entire family, friends, etc, get some version of cancer along with the patient. It changes us all in some fashion. For me it makes me appreciate every day now. I didn't use to be that way. My wife, my caregiver, now knows how fast life can change and she's seen the dark side of disease. She is thankful everyday too.
As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be here without her! She is my hero as much as the Dr's are.
So thanks again for the good wishes. Right back at you......
    Steve
P.S. Anyone heard from Adventure Bob lately? I'll bet he's out scouting out a new canyon somewhere.
