MILESTONES ARE GOOD
For 2 days I've exceeded 1200 calories by mouth with no cans going into the feeding tube! Tonight we went to Steak n SHake after the movie and I actually ate a Frisco Melt. I can hardly believe it. The milkshake hurt my throat but the sandwich was fine. Taste still not 100% but I'm very thankful that I have 25% of it back at least. It makes a world of difference. I feel very hopeful about how things will turn out.
I have my follow up with the rad doc Tuesday. I'm very excited because I know she will be thrilled about the progress I've made.
Hope everyone had a great long weekend!
Cindy

Awsome
Milestones like this are great, to us who have been through
this H&N treatment can only understand this, they might seem
nothing to "Normal"people but to us there huge steps towards
recovery. Keep up the good work.
God bless

WOW.....good for you, Cindy.....
I was SO jealous you ate a sandwich LOL....I'm having one of those REALLY hungry days, where I call my sisters just to see what they're having for dinner....and I'm ready to jump into the TV after shrimp at Red Lobster.
Yup....this is a milestone, and I'm sure you're feeling encouraged about the future....you encouraged ME. Won't be long and you can dump that old tube, too....another milestone!!!

Congrats
It's great that you're eating. I found that during and immediately after treatment: liquids at body temperature were less painful than either hot or cold liquids. Maybe the milkshake hurt because it was cold. Just a suggestion: everyone is different. Rick.0 -
So cool !
Cindy,
Way to go girl ! Yes every milestone is an amazing thing in our lives post treatment. You have done wonderful. Continued success ! Katie0 -

I've been obsessed with food for weeks! I went through a period of about a week where I stayed up til 5 am on Yelp bookmarking places to eat and looking at food pics. It was really ridiculous. I ordered that sandwich last night thinking there was no way I could eat it. I mean, it's on toast! But it was packed with so much sauce and butter it went down pretty easy.
Your day is just around the corner!!!0 -

I was thinking the flavoring probably has an alcohol base of some sort. Cold water doesn't hurt my throat but that's really the only thing I've had. Hmmm...0 -

You're not uncommon in this...
LOL, we have had major discussions....
I think I DVR'd most of the Food Channel
Paula Dean's Best BBQ in the South
Man Against Food
BBQ Cook-Offs
Anthony Bourdaine
LOL, the list goes on......
All while I would sit later watching them and drool non-existant slobbers.....LOL

It's great to read that things get better and you can eat. It is so inspiring to hear this... My dad is in the middle of the worst (just 6 more rads and 1 Cisplatin chemo) and it's good to hear that things DO improve with time!
Keep on going!0 -

I took your inspiration and went out to eat tonight with Diane, posted a new post. So glad you are doing well, you give us all a boost (no pun intended) hope we all continue to a better day each and every day.0 -

i like to chalk it up to the fact that i have always been an extremely fast healer. of course i have no idea how i would be so lucky to have an easier go of it than others. it seems pretty unfair. i just hope my quick healing goes along with excellent results.0
