in Breast Cancer #1
I posted awhile ago about a lump I had an ultrasound on, and it came up as suspicious, but was having a hysterectomy August 1st...so it all went on hold. Well.....I had a bilateral mammogram and another ultrasound last Wednesday, and the radiologist believes it is now just a fibroadenoma. I am 37, so this makes me a little nervous as I thought that was in under 30's, but, verrrrry relieved. However, I saw my GP today about it, and Ithe radiologist has recommended I see a surgeon for recommendation of either biopsy or lumpectomy. That appointment will apparently be in 1-2 weeks. So...just curious what you ladies think I should do??? Lumpectomy, biopsy, or??? I am leaning towards having it removed...for stress reasons...then they can biopsy the sh!t out of it after. Bad idea?

    Hi!

    I had a fibroadenoma when I was 14 and then it came back when I was 19 as a malignant phyllodes tumor. My case is especially rare, so I wouldn't worry too much. Fibroadenomas are benign tumors so its nothing potentially life threatening, but as far as my personal experience, I would get it removed. It is fine to have them leave it in because it's nothing, but for my own piece of mind, I wanted it out and then I never worried about it again. They will biopsy it once its removed. Might as well ease all of your fears and get it removed so that you never have to worry about it again!

    Personally, biopsy first ..
    after getting the findings on the lump/cycst or tumor -- ask for his/her recommendations and do a little research before proceeding forward with lumpectomy. However, please
    get a 2nd opinion before lumpectomy.

    I finally have an appointment with the surgeon. Sept 24th. Don't really know what to expect, or what I should do. They said my 'tumour' didn't grow, which I am assuming that is a good sign of not cancer?? Anyone told all this and go on to find out it was cancer? I keep reading about all your lives...your victories, and struggles. You all are an inspiration, and hero to me. I pray every night for God to give you all strength and comfort.
