Please Tell Me What This Means!!!!

in Lung Cancer #1
Hello. It's been a long time since I've written. My husband, Gary, had has stage 4 lung cancer and it's been two years now, Sadly, it has metastasized to his other lung, and new tumors in his kidney, and new spots on his ribs.

Hospice is coming into our home now. He's usually only aswake 3 to 5 hours a dayu. He wont sit in his chair in the living roon because he feels that he won't be able to hold his head up. He used to have pain before his Fentanyl patches were put on,

His legs ae so swollen because of his kidneys.

His platelets are 565 now.

would someone plasse tell me if this all means he's on his way out soon? when he's wide awake he seems perfectly normal with visitors for an hours or so.

please tell me something. Thank you.

    I am so sorry to hear of your husbands decline, but delighted to know that Hospice is there.

    They are Angels on Earth if you ask me!! Consult with your Hospice nurse, she will be the best to give you indications of what is going on.

    Best wishes for comfort, peace and mercy. Continue to make memories with your husband....

    Yes, I guess I aleady know what the symptoms I described mean but it is so sad and scary. I
    had always heard that hospice nurses were angels and now I that that is truly a fact. They are such wonderful people.

    Quality not Quantity

    I know how scary this all is. I am new to cancer, my brother was just diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus. He has a tube in his lungs due to the amount of fluid in his right lung and they suspect cancer there too even though the PET scan did not show it.

    Know this. It is not the quantity of life we have on this earth, but the quality of life we have. I am so sorry you are scared, and you are both in my thoughts and prayers. Enjoy each small moment and keep us informed as to how things are going.

    Thoughts to you. When Hospice becomes involved, it usually means the end is near. I agree with the need to concentrate on Quality over Quantity at this time.
