Eating Food

I have finished all of my treatment and am currently cancer free. I still have the eating tube because all foods taste so horrible that my Dr. is reluctant to take it out until I can eat regularly. I try different foods periodically but have yet to find anything I can actually eat. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how long did it take to be able to eat again? Thank you.

P.S. Any suggestions on getting back to eating?

    Eating Food
Sorry, I should have been a little more specific, lol. I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on May 2, 2012. I was hopitalized on May 8th due to dehydration. Had a stent put in esophagus because of large tumor and I hadn't eaten food in over 90 days. So I was very, very ill. I had 28 days of radiation and 2 rounds of chemo both ending June 28th. At the time I had the stent put in I also had a g-tube to eat thru. I did not have surgery. I had a ctscan on Aug. 6th and the tumor was completely gone. I had the stent removed on Aug. 23rd and 3 biopsies at that time. All were negative.

I keep trying to taste food in hopes that I will eventually regain my taste buds and be able to eat. Right now the food tastes so very bad that it makes me ill. I had lost 60 lbs and that is why I was given the feeding tube. My oncologist wants to make sure that I can eat food again on my own before removing the feeding tube. So far no such luck. I have gained some weight and have been able to maintain it.
I do stay hydrated and can drink fluids orally.

I hope that I have answered most of your questions.
