medicare running out

in Brain Cancer #1
what to do for my friend currently in rehab facility - she will be on avaistan starting next week...every 2 weeks....her limit left is 30 days to remain in facility....she has AARP and medicare....can't apply for medicaid...any suggestions as to how to get more time for her to remain in rehab center? She can't afford 24 hour care at home. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Contact your local social services agency- there various programs available to assist your friend with the care and treatment she will need. Also, many areas have home health agencies that operate on a sliding fee based on income. Even the rehab center has social workers to help individuals deal with expenses. You sound like a good friend to help her in the fight to beat cancer.
