Specifics...
Thanks...
If you check the map, you can see where everyone is... It does have a listing of individuals on the left side (or mine does)... But there's no easy way of alphabetizing it.
If you give me a more specific are, other than like Southern California, I can drop a pin close. Otherwise it just leaves me thinking San Diego or simlar.
My original intend with the was to make it easier to find others on the H&N Forum located in your area.
For support, to communicate, or just for information only.
To Be Golden, I thought you were on here from past postings (Everett)...I'll double check.

Hey Vicki, it's pretty easy to make one on Google Maps. It just takes a little time initially upfront gathering eveyrone's information.
There's not an easy way to just collect all ofthe data and dump it in...that I have found anyways.
There may be something easier to do it in also...
With mine it's hard to find where someone specifically lives becasue there is no directory that I'm aware. there might be a search feature where you can put in a name (like Skiffin16) and it'll point you...not sure.
And once you start it and add to it doesn't re-alphabetize.
But knowing your area, you can easily see other members close to you.

there is a way to import data to Google Maps, but probably not worth it for this.
you can maintain data in Excel, dump to a KML file, and import--but you need to use lat/long coordinates in the Excel file. too much precision, lol.
the data listing on the left only appears for collaborators, I believe.0 -

What is Candi;
a location or name...sorry.
Billie, it's really cool in Google Earth, as it displays all of the names without having click on them.

hwt is my stage name...Candi is my real name. I live in St Louis, MO
No, really, when I first signed on I tried my initials and they were taken so I plugged in my husband's initials, hwt. I think I was just intending to take a "look see" so my posting name didn't seem important at the time. I am not very computer literate. I'm just happy I did find my way to this site got on. I admire people, like you, that know their way around the computer.0 -

Oh, wait...fishing is my life, computers are my lively hood and allow me to fish a lot... (with my wife's permission)...

maybe small, but beautiful and prosperous, yes?
not to mention, the birthplace of talented hockey players like Anže Kopitar.
good health to you and your family.0 -

That's what I was referring....
I know you can dump it in from Excel, but once you add any updates, it's out of order again... I beleive that the only way to update (and sort it again), you'd have to compile everything, sort ot and dump it again...only you might have to make a new map each time....
Either way a lot of work..., this serves the main purpose I intended.
Thanks for the imput though...
And yes, I figured that I was the only one that could view the names on the points.
I have a few of the KML's for fishing...., it lists Florida Ramps mainly...
