Is this a good juicer? Please share your juice recipes
So any advice is much appreciated. I'm looking at the Omega J8003 on Amazon. All the juicers have really good reviews and then really bad reviews...so confusing. Is this a good choice?
Anyone have recipes to share? Or recipe books?
Thanks!

Juicer
I don't know much about the Omega juicer. I have a Champion juicer that i bought used
on Craigslist. I have used it every day for the past year....It works great. I don't use any
recipes....just throw everything that I have on hand in the juicer. You might want to search
juice recipes on the search feature.
Welcome to juicing.....Linda0 -
Juicy!
Ditto on the "Champion".
We had one, but I can't do fiber anymore, so I sold it.
The Champion is a heavy duty juicer and will juice a brick
if you could get it into the hopper. But the Omega is as
highly rated and works on the same principle. They squish
and shred the stuff, dump the pulp out one end and the juice
out of the other. Both are easy to maintain and clean, and
both have replaceable parts that aren't that expensive.
You can do a search here on this forum for recipes; there's
tons of 'em.
Look for the one that uses Vodka or Bourbon, those recipes
make it taste soooo mush blettar....
Good health!

The most important thing that you have to remember is that you have to use it. It has to be out on the counter where you can see it. If you don't use it then the veggies and fruit spoil. You have to be prepared to clean it after each use, or it becomes a mess. I use the jack Allain juicer. I like that I can use a small garbage bag to catch all the pulp. It serves the purpose. Kohls sometimes has it on sale, and always have coupons.
Juicing Recipes are every where, just google on line, on pinterest, a good book.
To sweeten use apples or carrots. Try searching for the juice chick here on the forum, she listed some of her recipes.
i usually just stick to greens, carrots and apples or berries, an apple and maybe some spinach leaves.
I have used some ginger but it can really change the flavor of the juice so I will drink ginger tea instead.
If I want to drink a meal, I will blend it and make a smoothie. Good for on the go.0 -
welcome jen2012
you got your hands full.
my juicing tip, is don't.
have a break for a few seconds, contemplate life, all these wonderful healthy alternatives, and i have tried a few, can be stressful. so stop the fuss and stress before it starts.
if its not fun then don't do it,
do you best, smile and be healthy.
now juice peacefully, whatever healthy veg and some fruit you got.
organic carrots, are so simple. maybe you can just sprinkle in some wheatgrass powder.
if you make your hubby something with love and a smile, it will be just as healing as any super juice.
now of course their are great recipes, for different things and my favourite is carrot, beet and celery.
hugs,
Pete
ps i got a champion, good service kind of
the wheatgrass attachment is so so, but the hardcore veg juicing its solid, fast, and easy to clean. its like a friend and i have been hammering it for 18 months. buy anything that juices well thats a second hand bargin, i would pay a few bucks more for the champion. but be gentle if you do wheatgrass, see my wheatgrass post.0 -

Thanks for the replies...Pete's response threw me a little...not sure if you were saying don't bother, it's not going to help, but I'm re-reading and thinking you mean to not stress too much about it right now, get through the initial shock and treatments and then think about juicing??
One of the concerns I have about juicing is if it will cause diarrhea...or make diarrhea worse. That seems to be one of the biggest side effects of all the chemo drugs they told us about. Also - the natural sugar - we hear sugar feeds cancer cells.
My husband has his first treatment in 2 days - every other week with Leucovorin, fluorouracil, avastin & oxaliplatin. Seeing another doc today for 2nd opinion to see if he agrees with the plan.0 -

You will get used to interpreting Pete's posts which include a fair smattering of contradiction, random grammar/ spelling and a good dose of what psychiatrists call thought disorder (the flow and linking of thoughts that he posts don't always appear logical and coherent). However in time you will, like many here, come to love his unique brand of madness/sanity.
Every forum needs a Pete.

I have been juicing for my husband for over a year...even when he was on chemo.
No problems with diarrhea at all. Everyone is different though.
Try searching (juicing and the sugar question) by 2behealed. She was on this site for over
ten years....lots of information about juicing.

Anyone recommend Nutri-bullet?

Peace of mind before all else.
Now healthy juicing is essential,
Its often the easiest way to start a serious alt healthstyle.
For me it's what is our priority, for me it's peace of mind.
I commend it to us all.
Hugs,
Pete
PS i ran into the diarrhea issue back when i was on chemo. so being aware, research the osmotic effect, try to avoid it. good gut health is essential otherwise the goodness from the juice is wasted. its a catch 22. if you got diarrhea, i would like at gut friendly juices, small volumes, also diluted with water, or my favourite cocnut water. just some ideas. i use my juicer everyday.0 -
thanks again...marbleotis said:Anyone recommend Nutri-bullet?

Thanks Steve - I kind of got that from Pete's posts that I've read - you are right all boards need a Pete....
So we got some good news today (the first in 2 1/2 weeks) bone biopsy came back clear! Not in the bones or marrow! We had a 2nd opinion yesterday and he said it was too early to stage him a 4 and things didn't add up. He's only had symptoms for a month - I couldn't understand how he could be stage 4 when others had symptoms for years and are a 2 and 3. He said if the bone biopsy came back clear, he should get the para-aortic node biopsied. So, 1st chemo treatment for tomorrow is cancelled and he'll get that node biopsied next week. Fingers crossed....
Really appreciate everyone's support and advice.
Off to buy that juicer!0 -

The Bullet is a convienient mixer and not a juicer. It comes with several containers to mix in and if I had a bar for friends it is perfect.
Just a thought.
Best Always, mike0 -
