I hope you can convince your husband Linda to get another cat. I swear, my hubby and I treat ours better than some people treat their children. And, my husband was not a cat lover. Now he is! LOL
states that the cats are mine. Uh huh. The grey one in the picture sleeps on him, gets on the back of his chair when he is on the computer. And DH calls her and she comes. Sometimes. She IS a cat.
These 3 are all rescues, the seal point is almost 18 years old and very much a momma's boy, the white one is a flame point and was adopted from siameserescue.org He was found in Texas and shipped to me when I adopted him. He thinks that he is a Golden Retriever. Kinda shocks people when a cat greets them at the door. The little grey one is a blue point and was 5.2 pounds and supposedly over a year old when we adopted her in Las Vegas. I named her Tiny Cat because she was but she is now approaching 10 pounds and I'm thinking of renaming her Portly Cat. But most of the the time she is "wee ****" so it doesn't really matter.
But we love them all. 2 humans, 3 cats in a 33' fifth wheel!

Nope, woudn't own a pet.....
Why in the world would you want to have a dog, or cat? They cost so much money, and aggravation. When you are sick they just won't get away from you and leave you alone. When you are eating they want to share what you have. When you are sleeping they want to be close and get their stupid dog breath all over you when they kiss you. When you come home they can't settle down from showing you how much they missed you. When you leave they can't stop the damned pouting because they love you so much they want to be with you. People don't aggravate you so much as a pet does! PEOPLE are nice and non committal and couldn't feel a thing if you were alone, or sad or sick. And PEOPLE would gladly suck up that money you throw away on your pet on things to make them happy, while turning their back with it in their hands and forgetting you. Dog? HAH! Nope, I wouldn't own one.
I'd own as many as I could fit in my bed. And that is the frickin truth!0 -
I have a puppy
in addition to my poodle and three cats!! my puppy---Molly---is a lab mix and I love her so much. I love my other babies, too. But Molly is so energetic that she keeps me a bit more active and she loves me unconditionally----as my others do too.
They each bring me something each day that I am grateful for.0 -

I have a Lhasa Apso named Crystal (picture). She is 12 years old and is the best dog we ever had. I love her dearly and would be lost without her. They love unconditionally.0 -

Pinky I hope raider adjusts to the food. They can such a pain some times, but as you said what would we do without them. My Boy has been staying so close to me since I was diagnosed. In fact he will be 2 next month, so he is still a youngster. Hope all is well with you
Raider does seem to be doing better with his new food the last couple of days!!!
My other cat Buzz really stayed close to me too..It's like they sense your not well..
Hope you are doing well!!!

We have Dillon, our cat, whopinkkari09 said:I love pets:)
I've had several over the years, currently two dogs:)
Doc - is my 7 year old black lab (bred and breeds, from a very prominent bloodline)
Eros - is my 3 year old Itailan Greyhound (rescued from my local shelter)
Doc and Eros are my world right now and always of course.. They are the only ones that have never quit me. I happened upon Eros just ten days before I was diagnosed. I'm a big fan of dogs, but I love ALL animals:)
We have Dillon, our cat, who like a lot of you, gives us so much love and asks nothing in return. Well, except for food and to be loved all of the time. LOL0 -

My Raider is white with black parts on head and belly..He had a urine blockage 2 weeks ago and the vet bill was 1,450!!! Thank goodness for credit cards!!
My husband wanted to name him either Gannon (quarterback) or Raider...He's a huge cat, he's bigger than our dog!
Joyce, I hope that Raider is doing much better now.

The mutt
The mutt came with the marriage. She gets leftovers all the time. She snores and grunts like a pig in her sleep. She rolls around in the neighbors horse manure and brings it in the house. She comes and goes as she pleases. She chases the coyotes away at night. She's definitely my husband's dog, but guess whose feet she comes to sit by when it storms?
What a character!

Now we have six!
Three were my Moms and they live with us now since she passed.
Two are from puppy mills and are now 10 years old. These two are the sweet calm ones.
One from private puppy mill and now a wonderful, smart guy and in charge of everyone. He loves to sit with me.
One was left alone most of the time in a dark house and she was very frighten of the dark and shadows but now three years later has just started wagging her tail. She is a delightful and wonderful girl.
Thought this one was little when we got her she weighed 2 pounds and abused by younger children but now weighs 4 pounds. She is still recovering from the abuse but is a loving, sweet girl.
The last one was rescued from a dumpster and was so dehydrated that he couldn't bark. When rescued his weight was 1 1/2 pounds. He is 2 or 3 years old and now weighs 2.2 pounds. We have had him only a couple of months. He is a playful and happy boy now and loves to be held. Everyone falls in love with him and we all wonder who could throw a little one into the trash. He is a sweetheart.0 -

I have two babies who I love very much....first there is Roger, we recused him a couple of years ago, I think he's about 5. He's a shitzu cross, we think with a poodle. He's black and white and totally rules the house, we adore him.
Then there is Barrie...he's my 4 yr old Stimsons python. Stimsons pythons are the second smallest species of python in the world. I've had him 3 yrs and he's fully grown at a metre long. He's very placid and doesn't mind being handled. I live in Australia and he's an Australian native snake. I have a special license to keep him, and most of the time he is kept locked in a special enclosure with special heating. Australia has very strict laws about what type of reptiles you can keep. Hopefully he'll live about 20 yrs.

I love my furbaby!
Our baby is Midis, a nearly 6 yr old Maltese. He is spoiled rotten, but we love him to death! He stays right beside me on the couch whenever I am reading or on my IPad. I rarely use my desktop computer in our home office because Midis can't sit beside me in my computer chair. I also work from home three days a week, and have my work-office set up in our guestroom with my desk "chair" being a futon so that Midis can lay beside me while I am working. Of course, it goes without saying, he also sleeps with me at night and goes on vacations to Destin, FL with us every year. My husband is just as nutty about Midis as I am. He works from home all the time. Unlike me, he hasn't relocated his home office to accommodate Midis but Midis does have a catbed in our joint home office and when I am not at home he lies in that under Greg's feet all day long.
Before Midis we had Casper who was also a Maltese. He lived to be 14 1/2 yrs old. He was a very healthy and happy (and spoiled) little dog right up until the end. We were so heartbroken when we lost him that I insisted on finding another within the week of his passing. Midis was not ready to leave his momma until a week or so later. Casper passed away on 2/20 and I picked up Midis on 2/25. As much as my husand felt we should have a little breathing room without the responsibility of a little fur baby for a while, my grief overruled that decision (and I'm sure his grief also played a big part in him giving in so easily).
Years before Casper I had a Yorkshire Terrier. In fact, I had the Yorkie, Chipper, before I started having babies. After I had two little skin babies and bought and finished a new house with my first husband, then started working I turned my demanding little Yorkie over to my then Mother-in-Law who had just lost her mini Schnauzer of 19 years. She was lonesome and in love with Chipper, and he was destroying my new home! Hard to keep tabs on two little ones, an unruly little dog and a new job all at the same time in a new home!
So, I learned a lot along the way: Spoil the little fur babies all you want, and love them to death, but do not let them get away with murder or they can destroy your home and your peace of mind. Personally, I can't see myself ever without a furry little body next to me whether I be reading, typing on my IPad, working from home, on vacation or sleeping at night. They are just a part of who I am.
You know what broke my heart the most when I found out I had cancer? "What will Midis do? What will he think? He'll have to think I just abandoned him because there is no way anyone can explain to him that I left him unwillingly!" I knew the humans that care for me in my life would understand, but Midis? Never. I thank God I do not have this to worry about, at least not this time around. I will be fine and recover from this particular scare.
*Hugs to all Pet Lovers*

pet
I have a cat and he has been the most solid support for me in the past year. It is amazing. Also, a kitten came into my life right before diagnosis-- he was the best medicine. Smiles everytime I get to see him, highly recommended, probably because they are so independent and not so needy. For awhile, I could not get near them, too dangerous after surgery, but as soon as I healed up, it was full, fluffy love!0 -

You are so right that our pets can be the best medicine ever! I've really enjoyed reading about everyone's furry family members! Thanks so much!0 -
