A bucket list....

I don't know if I should ask this question...but I will anyway...

Do you have a bucket list ???

One of the things on mine was...

Drive a red Mercedes sports car...must be an early 1960s model, red with white interior, and of course have the top down. :-) I'd want it for half a day so I could drive up along our local coast.

I've only had one bout of cancer and there's nothing wrong with me now. But if the cancer ever returns, before I get really sick, that's one of the things I'd like to do. I tried to think of all sorts of things, but couldn't really think of much because I've travelled overseas and within my own country, so I'm happy with the places I've been.

I'd like to go into a jewellery shop and try on their most expensive diamond ring. :-) That would be fun. :-) Apart from that I'd really like to visit one of my brothers who lives in another state from me, and my son, he also lives in another state. I'd like to sit on a beach with my husband and watch a sunset over the ocean, and have a picnic on a couple of the parks near where I live. There are just a few little things in my local area that I'd like to do while I'm still well.

What are your thoughts...or don't you think about such things....

Cheers, Annie

    Bucket List - Completed
After my 2nd recurrence with Arimidex keeping me NED, I made a list of places I wanted to visit. I did complete the list in 2007. I am very happy that I did. On my death bed, there will be no regrets that I didn't take the opportunity to do what had been my heart's desire.

Today, I have lots of great memories and I certainly would not be able to do any of my list. I have a lot of other medical issues beside mets.

I believe that everyone when well enough should at least attempt to do what they have put off doing because of money, it's not the right time and etc. Don't have any regrets.

    Best,

    Doris

PS: I met some lovely Australian women traveling

I want to see the land of Israel
I want to touch the soil and look at the sky from that land. I want to cry at the wailing wall and pray.

    To Rallendorfer
Only you can make it happen. When you are finish with your treatments, go to the land of Israel. If you don't have a passport, take out the papers for one now, go online and plan your itinerary, where you will stay, the things you want to see, how much they will costs, what time they open. Planning can almost be as much fun, but there is nothing like the real thing.

Plan who will look after those little doggies in your photo while your away. Do the specifics now if you have time.

Don't let your fantasy not become your reality, that would be the tragedy. Do it while you are able to do it.

It is so easy to become caught up in the daily doings. Do them, make them happen. It is so easy to put things off for another year. We never know do we if that year will be ours. Do it!

    Bucket list
I want to hike part or all of the Appalacian trail with my son. The good news is that my son lives in Virginia now so he is not far from the Appilacian Trail.

The next thing is going to take some bucks so I gotta get on the stick saving. I would like to take a sabatical from work for the summer and get a Eurorail Pass. I want to go all through Europe seeing various cities and stay in Pensions, or Hostels. It is cheaper to travel this way. I am hoping that one or more of my children could come. One of my kids was born in Rein Main Germany while I was a military wife. I miss the sense of adventure I found while living there. I got the wanderlust while a military wife.

When I retire I want to see the USA in my Chevrolet. How many of you are old enough to remember that song from the comercial? I want to be a like gypsy and live on the road with my hubby. I guess I need to buy a lotto ticket. Number one is doable for sure we will see if the others occur.

First of all, I plan on being around for a long, long time
However, being diagnosed with cancer has made me realize how little time all of us have on this beautiful earth.

Number one would have to be see my new grandson, Lincoln, graduate for not only high school, but college as well. (He's 2 months old, so I've got a while!).

The second thing--already in the planning for next spring--is to take a trip to Paris with the love of my life--Kevin. I've always wanted to go, we've talked about it ad nauseum, and now we're finally planning. Au revoir!

    Hugs, Renee

    Paris
It was the first place on my bucket list, Renee. I loved every second of my time over there. Then the traveling bug really hit me and I continued on. April in Paris is so wonderful, the trees are all in bloom, the chestnut trees and all the flowers. It was so beautiful and when I was there it was hot.

There is so much to see.......from d'Orsay, the Louvre, Versaille, Moulin Rouge, Giverny and etc. I would love to go back, but walking is such a problem these days. I speak French so the language was not a problem for me. I think if you try, like people everywhere they are helpful. In Rome, I couldn't speak a word of Italian. This bus driver who took pity on me, understood what I wanted and even drove me to the street (or Ally) gave me sign language direction to the Pantheon. It totally amazed me how one can communicate in that manner.

The food is out of this world, especially the pastry. I had to force myself not to go back for seconds. Walking does burn it off and one does walk a lot.

Planning was a lot of fun, figuring out when and where to go. I did buy my "Metro Pass" online and it was waiting for me at my hotel, along with passes to major museum, d'Orsay, the Louvre and etc. It really helps and there is no line to wait as you show the pass. Buy all your passes before you go over, no lines to wait in.

I envy you, I really do.

    A bientôt,

    Doris

    Shirley,

My sons went before to Europe before me. I made certain in high school that they would go on the class trips abroad. Then finally, it was my turn. I can actually say that I really did do my bucket list (though that word "bucket" wasn't in yet).

    Make your dreams come true...

    Bucket List keeps us going
I've always been a BIG believer in checking off Bucket List items and giving up other stuff to make it happen. Then,in this last year or so, my husband and I really believe those goals we keep setting are playing a part in good results.

As I've mentioned before, my husband was diagnosed with Stage IV Esophageal Cancer in June 2011. We had started what we hoped would be a tradition with our grands to take each one on a little "dream" trip of their choice when they were 11. Grand # 3's trip was due to start 4 days after his diagnosis. After we stopped crying, and with our PCP and MO's encouragement, we went on with 5 days in San Diego then a trip back up to her home in WA on the Amtrak Coast Starlight. SOOO glad we did it! He then started chemo the day after we got home.

Also, just 2 days after his diagnosis we had to decide on buying trip insurance with no pre-existing conditions on an Oct trip we had been planning for a year. We decided having the trip to look forward to through chemo was worth the risk of the expense of the insurance. And we talked about and researched that trip from June until Oct. He was able to take a chemo break and we completely enjoyed a Voyages to Antiquity cruise to Rome, Sicily, Tunisia, Malta, Crete, Rhodes, Turkey, and Cyprus.

Then, after I was diagnosed and he was back on chemo, our goal was to get to WA to see our newest twin granddaughters. And--we did it in June. Nothing like holding grand babies!!

Since April, we've been planning on a Rhine and Mosel River Cruise after my treatment is finished and he's on a chemo break. (Some co-pays can just wait.) God willing, we leave on Sep 9 for that.

It does seem like the crises, the chemo, the radiation, etc are easier to get through with something to look forward to. We are so grateful that we have been able to enjoy these things after being totally blind sided and devastated 14 months ago.

    Angie,
Where in WA did you visit your twin granddaughters? I've lived in WA state since 1974.
How's everything going with husband and yourself?
