Bladder injured during hysterectomy?

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1
have any of you sustained a bladder injury as a result of a hysterectomy? The oncologist said everything looked absolutely normal at my 6 month checkup this week (yesss!) and attributed the bleeding, blood clot and abdominal pain (which pain I've had since the hysterectomy) to the bladder. I've read that if you had endometriosis, it can attach to the uterus and cause problems when the uterus is removed. I've also read about the bladder being nicked or clamped in the wrong place during surgery. I have an appt with a urologist at the end of the month.

I'm very grateful that there's no cancer remaining but I'd like to get to the bottom (no pun intended) of the pain and blood.

    What kind of abdominal pain?
    What kind of abdominal pain are you having? There have been a few ladies on the board with cramping pain like period pain that lasts forever. Just wondered if thats what your experiencing. Doctor said it was the bladder causing it.

    I have had pains for a long time.Surgery in 11,2009. March of 2012 had a cat scan and Doc said "good to go", he will see me in six months. No spotting though. But constant pains just like period pains and more so when I am lying down. Now I am kind of afraid even to seed the Doctor because I am taking care of my daughter who was dx with Leukemia in 2011. Unbelievble nightmare. But God has given me power beyond what is normal to deal with this. Please keep in touch.

    It's just like I'm having menstrual cramps. I wonder if it might also be attributable to adhesions, but I don't know how they identify adhesions.

    Im so sorry to hear about your daughter. In order to take care of her, you need to take care of yourself. Please make time to go to your doctor.

    It's amazing when you consider the strength God gives you when you need it. Holding you in prayer for a complete victory for you and your daughter.

    Abdominal pain
    April my Doctor told me when I complained of the period cramps that is indeed adhesions fibrous bands that form between tissues and the bladder. I did notice that mine last for about 10 days of pain and then go away only to return again. He also told me that these can occur after any surgery (not just hysterectomy) and that he could go in and remove them but people who get them once tend to get them back again. I do find that exercise (I use a treadmill makes it hurt less. Mine seem to come about every 6 months now and I am almost 2 years out from chemo. Hope this helps.

    During a "routine"
    During a "routine" hysterectomy for other problems not cancer related, my bladder was knicked during my hysterectomy and I had a foley cathether in for a week until my follow-up check up (and that is when I found out that they found cancer).

    After my partial cecectomy in June 2011, I had severe abdominal pain about a week after the surgery, was in the er for this but they didn't find anything. All periods stopped after this surgery and had my right ovary removed in April 2012. Throughout this whole time (13 months) I still get frequent cramping and pains like I'm ovulating but period never starts. Not sure what's going on but I attribute it to "phantom" pain :) - especially when it happens on the right side where there is no ovary. I can only deal with so much at one time, and this is bearable to me... I assume with the bloodwork and scans done by onc every 3 months, something would show up if it was serious. Btw, my cancer was appendix, not uterine.

    Precautions....
    My emergency surgery was delayed by one day so that an urologist could be brought in to assist my surgeon thus protecting my bladder. Beyond that I have no additional information, but I know my doctor was very adamant about having the urologist there.

    Did you have radiation? That can be very hard on the bladder. How about chemo...Ifosfamide can also damage the bladder.

    So far I've had no issues...hopefully you'll get to the bottom of this. Like cancer isn't bad enough.

    I had bowel obstruction almost 2 months after I had my hysterectomy and the day before I was supposed to start chemo.
    After being at the hospital for 5 days and resting for about 2 weeks, I started chemo.
    However, the abdominal pain did not go away for months.

    If you have had a CT and an ultrasound and everything looks good, according to your doctors, then there is a possibility of an adhesion.
    According to my doctor, you cannot see adhesion, unless you have surgery which increases the chance of getting adhesion.
    I still have a pocking pain on my left side.
    I know there is not cancer because I just had a PET scan, and everything was fine.
