my doc said that a new chemo drug was approved last Thursday for our issues ,anyone hear about it?

    I haven't heard of anything. I wish I'd heard about this before my treatment today. My onc is a researchist, when his office calls with my CEA and Mag numbers I'll have them ask about this and hopefully have an answer on Thursday when I go in to get unplugged from the Matrix.

    That's the new drug that my Niece worked on.
    "The drug was approved for people whose tumors are resistant to or have progressed after oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy".
    There's always something in the pipeline, that's where the "buying time" concept comes in.
    Let's hope it does what it's expected to do.

    "Avastin had a median survival rate of 11.2 months" 
    Sorry to burst your bubble but I've got 102+ Months thanks to Avastin.
    Everyone is different. I know of someone who was told they had 6 months to live.
    They tried TCM and only lasted 4 months.
    It just goes to show that you never know...

    If drugs and tcm fail

    Then consider some serious lifestyle stuff

    Start with a dash of exercise,
    A good helping of diet
    And mix with prayerful meditation while smiling.

    If that fails then your rooted!

    Only joking you always got a few supplements to try!

    Start on iherb.com, start ordering with the letter A, work your way to Z, as long as the credit is not reached.

    If you spend heaps iherb makes you a VIP.

    I have little doubt that the "answer" lies with multiple treatments.
    Like I've always said, one size doesn't fit all.
    Pete, the thread was about the new drug that was just released
    (or trashing new drugs - it's all about crushing people's hope, right?).
    There are plenty of alternative recipes in yours and other threads...

    I'm betting you're pretty proud of your Niece. Those that work so hard to try and find new ways to keep us living and the massive amount of researching and working they do on finding a cure or extending our lives don't get the kuddos that they should.
    Let your niece know we appreciate the work she is doing in helping us!!!! I'm proud of her too, and all the others that work so hard and tirelessly on trying to find something that will eventually cure.

    Aflibercept
    I will be on this drug in two weeks. Instead of Irinotecan + Avastin (the combo I was on prior to my radiation - knocked out some tumors and kept the others stable), I am doing Irinotecan + Aflibercept.

    I have an awful time with chemo, but tolerate the biologics well. Avastin causes high blood pressure for many, but not for me. After a year on it my nosebleeds did get pretty severe, but that is the worst of it. Still, we don't know how much it helped me or not - was it the Irinotecan, the Avastin, or the combo? So it is worth trying the new drug to see how it goes. If I have trouble with side effects, or the combo doesn't seem to be working, we'll switch back to Avastin again.
