Lung mets surgery done (1st half)
Everything went well, Dr removed 4 positive nodules about 1cm in size from the left lung.
Will be getting 4 more removed from the right lung in about 4-6 weeks. Just praying they got it all (said he did)
Proceedure only removed about 5% of lung capacity and was pain free while in recovery as they inserted a epidural with a pump I could control. But now I feel some more pain but taking hydrocodone for pain.
Looking forward to getting the other lung done soon and will know more what to expect on 2nd trip.
So glad I went there for a 2nd opinion & they were able to remove them. Local Dr said to many to operate and would be on chemo indefinate!
Dont ever give up.

Dear Kenny
So very glad to hear that all went well with the surgery!
I too am very glad that you went to MD Anderson for that second opinion. It shows us all that there may very well be a doc out there with a different perspective!
Hope your recovery goes smoothly and that the next surgery is as successful as this one appears to be.
Hugs,

Awesome!!!
That's such good news!! I wish I could have had more taken out than just the 1 met. I had a total of 4 small mets and would have done the surgery again in a heartbeat just to get those nasties out!!
Just goes to show how much a second opinion can change your life!!

you are doing well.this gives me hope and have really been thinking about talking to my surgen about the removal of my mets also in both lungs.my chemo doc said some surgens dont want to put the patient thru surgerys for it to just come back.i told my surgen this as they are supossed to be on the same team and he agreed with what the chemo onc said.the thought of lung surgery just terrifies me especially when it is in both lungs.hang in there it sounds like you are doing real well...Godbless...johnnybegood0 -

Congratulations, Kenny! I am so happy for you! I am another that your story is bringing hope. I was already told they could not operate... ever. I have a second opinion on Friday and then meet with the original doctor next Wednesday. I will be sure to bring up your story. Big hug!0 -

Good you got the second opinion
Kenny, great to hear that you had a positive experience. The ability to get a second opinion is very important especially when one has out distanced the local resources. Once again great news and best with next surgery.0
