Looking for a Family Practice or GP who specializes in or has a lot of experience treating cancer pa
I saw this board and thought I might find someone within a 100 mile radius who would know a great GP that would be compassionate and tuned in to some of the special needs of treating cancer patients. I am spoiled by the great care I receive at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, but they are my oncology team. I still need a local GP for annual physicals etc.
When I went to see my last GP, he once told me to be happy I am still here. Then he asked me if I was done because he had lots of patients to see that day. I think during that visit I was particularly emotional and should have been put on anti-depressants, not dismissed. I had been having a lot of partial bowel obstructions and he didn't have the patience to explain what was happening and what I could do to help myself.
Anyway, if anyone knows of a good referral website or a good GP nearby, please let me know!
Thank you for your time and enjoy your day!

Hi Julie
Try the American Cancer Society web site:
http://www.cancer.org/treatment/supportprogramsservices/app/resource-search
Put in your city and state. On the list menu for "Program" scroll down the list until you get to physician referrals.
This may get you started.

Where do you live. I'm in the panhandle.....niceville. I have a very caring interest I use. She takes all the time YOU need. But she isn't a specialist in dealing with cancer. I leave that up to my cancer team. Jamie
Hello,
You are about two hours from me. We live in Mexico Beach, closer to Panama City or Talahassee.
Thank you so much for the suggestion. Right now it seems a bit far, but I may find she is the best closest option;). I do not go often, but am overdue for an annual physical;)
Enjoy your day and thanks again.0 -

Hello Golf Gal,
As it turns out, we are moving to Destin next month. Would you mind sending me the name of your internist? I appreciate your time.
