IF you don't mind me asking... How old is everyone

I am 44
I was diagnosed with metastatic OC two months ago. It also turned out that I am BRACA1 positive, which explains cancer at relatively early age.

55 at Diagnosis
I actually turned 56 a couple of days after my cancer surgery while still in the hospital. I can't believe it's getting close to a year since my surgery in August, 2011.

dgalaxy, can I ask how you were followed all these years? My tumor was borderline to low grade at diagnosis, but it had micro-papillary features on the metastatic sites that put me at a higher risk for recurrence later on. Were you treated with chemo initially or just surgery? I'm so scared that I'm going to be blindsided with a recurrence someday.

I just had a radical
I just had a radical hysterectomy and my ca125 was checked yearly for 2 years. I changed doctors and didn't really realize this could come back. The doctor I had at time of surgery never told me it was cancer - he said it was pre-cancerous and could become cancerous. Surgery was all they did back then for borderline anyway. What I had a problem with wasthat I had wanted to have a family, and I no longer could. At the time I think I needed a more understanding doctor. THe doctor I went to was a great surgeon, but was not a very sympathetic person. He felt the surgery went well, and I should be happy to go on with my life. I, on the other hand, was a basket case. I was thrown into menapause, and was morning for the family I would never have. I couldn't even stand to be around babies for many years. On top of that, within six months of my surgery my thyroid became overactive, which also effects many functions in your body. I got the thyroid under control with medication. And over time, I accepted my situation and got on with life.

I found a doctor who perscribed premarin, and took it for many years, not knowing it could contribute to a reoccurrance. All I knew was it helped me overcome the emotional roller coaster and stopped the hot flashes.

I had one scan done about 10 years later when I was having pelvic pain, but nothing showed. My reoccurance is only in the lymph nodes and the lymph node at my superclavicle area is the one I felt that lead to the discovery of a reoccurance. You have to live your life and not let this bring you down. Just try living healthy, eat well, exercise, Follow up with your doctor's recommendation and listen to your body. It tells you when something is wrong. It's your job to make sure your doctors listen to you. Enjoy the years you have, and remember, none of us, healthy or ill, know how long we have on this earth. This may never return so don't let it get to you. If it does, deal with it then.

48, it is young to be
48, it is young to be diagnosed in your forties.

How old?
I was 55 when I was diagnosed and I am 58 now. Very typical I guess. I am sorry for all of us who have had to deal with this disease, but most of all I am sorry for and shocked by those women who have had cancer at a very young age. Inside this middle aged body I am really only about 25 ( at least that's what I would like to be). Kelly

45 years old
I was 45 years old when I was diagnosed, although I had been seeking advice for problems since I was 44 years old. I wasn't diagnosed until after I had a hysterectomy then had to go back for staging surgery. Diagnosed as Grade 2, Stage iii/a endometrial adenocarcinoma. They found it both in the uterus and left ovary. However, they treated me as ovarian due to the fact that they couldn't determine origination.

I am now 52 years old.
