Are sharp pains a symptom???

Hello All,
So I am a fellow lymphoma survivor and I am freaking out a bit. I developed a lump in my right breast a few years ago but it never bothered me. I had an ultra sound done on it shortly after I discovered it but the doctor claimed nothing looked unusual and it was probably just breast tissue. A few months ago I started noticing I get sharp pains right were the lump is and now it feels like there are two. I had an mamagram and ultrasound done on it again but the doctors are still insisting there is nothing to worry about. I know that as a lymphoma survivor I have a good chance of getting another cancer, especially breast cancer since my previous cancer was from my chest to my ears. I am to the point were I even want the lumps removed so Im not waiting for something to happen but the doctors insist its not necessary. I would truly appreciate any advise on this one...
Thank you,
GabY

    Get...
Get copies of your mammograms and ultrasounds and take them to a NEW doctor..!!!! Take them to a breast surgeon......remember, you're the " customer"......especially since you've already had one cancer, better to be safe.... If this present doctor has a problem with you're getting a second opinion, RUN from him.....

Glad you found us.....keep s posted, we care...

    Get another opinion!
If I were in your situation, I would get another opinion immediately and ask for a biopsy. Your doctor may be right and it is nothing, but you need to know for sure.
    Positive thoughts for you!

    Peace of mind...
You deserve peace of mind. It may or may not be something to worry about, but you NEED to know. I had a small lump for several years that was at first determined abnormal but more or less not to worry about also!!! Last march it was diagnosed by 5 pathologists as a rare slow growing Secretory Carcinoma of the breast, accounting for less than 1% of all BC. Doctors in my area had never even seen it before. Long story short, 3wks later I had a double mastectomy. I'm no doc, and certainly not saying you have anything to worry about, but PLEASE get another opinion so you can move forward and breathe easy. You will be in my prayers for good news...please keep us posted!

    lymphoma survivor too
Did you have mantle radiation, chest and neck area for your lymphoma? If so, was your tx mant years ago which was probably less targeted and very intense?
Because my rads were in 1990, all my specialist knew I had a huge chance of BC from the radiation txs. So I was dx w/BC in 2007. That being said, I did not have any pain where the BC was nor could anyone feel a lump. It was only dicovered because of my high risk and I was alternating MRI's with the mammo's. For me, I was in the process of discussing prophalytic mx's because of the strong possibility of BC. I know of many HL survivors, who completed their txs long ago, have done this.
Now, this may not all pertain to you if you were not treated with radiation long ago.
Because of your hx, I would think a biopsy wouldn't be so hard to get. You need piece of mind or more discussions with your doctors pertaining to your indidvidual risk based on past treatments. Sometimes a need for a biopsy comes down to a quality of life issue, the need to know. An understanding PCP should realize this but...they also should discuss with you over testing can bring much undo anxiety when something is chased by test after test and it turns out to be nothing. I've been down this road too many times in the last 23 years (ovarian cancer, lung cancer and pancreatic cancer scares to name a few) So there are 2 sides to the issue with you stuck right inbetween. Hopefully you can work with your PCP and get what is right or you.
All the best to you, good luck.

    lump
Get a second oppinion because about the same thing happened to me. I found a lump in my left Breast and my gyno sent me for an ultrsound. The stupid radiologist sad it was nothing to worry about. My gyno listened to him and said don't worry. Within 2 weeks the lump got bigger. and it hurt. I went back to my gyno he agreed and sent me to a surgeon. I don't blame the doctor at all it was the radologists fault. My doctor felt bad, he personally called me and said how bad he felt. He never calls back for ant reason. It wound up being cancer I had a double Masectomy went through the chemo and radiation now I'm Cancer free. Get that second oppinion Please Good Luck let me know what happens. Let me know here or go under find a friend. I think that is what it is called.

    CHECK!!!
Hi Gaby - We're not trying to scare you, but please, please have it checked ASAP. I suggest getting a biopsy of the lump as well to confirm what it is. Big chances are it's nada (Amen to that). But wouldn't you want to have peace of mind? Please seek help with other Doctors who care and are more pro-active with your health. We'll be right here to support you, if needed.

    You are not alone!

    XOXO

    Advocate
    Gaby,

You know your own body better than anyone. I would find a new doctor for a second opinion.
I wish you luck, don't forget to advocate for yourself. It's your life.
