I am a fairly avid reader and am looking for a book - a novel - about someone's battle with cancer. I know it seems weird... and i may change my mind once i start reading, but for now I am looking for suggestions. Maybe blogs are a little too real....

Does anyone know of a book or two? Thanks.

Robin

    Hi Robin
Here is a web site I found where it lists novels with a cancer theme.

I have no personal recommendations, but thought you could check out this list.

    Great Books
Anti Cancer A new way of life - David Servan Schreiber
Highly recommended - Inspirational, good diet information and good mental health information.

Lance Armstrong's first book - Inspirational story of the the affects of cancer.

The Zone Diet - Barry Spears Good information on diet issues for a healthy life style.

Read about Juicing - Compelling and makes sense for those not getting correct nutrition. More surface area of the food makes it easier to digest.

    Everything Changes by Kairol Rosenthal
I highly recommend Everything Changes by Kairol Rosenthal. Even though it features young adults with cancer, a person at any age can relate to the people in this book. I found great comfort in this book, also because it was narrated really well.

    Summary:
On a shoestring budget and with tape recorder in hand, Kairol Rosenthal emerged from treatment and hit the road in search of other twenty- and thirtysomething cancer survivors. From the Big Apple to the Bible Belt, she dusted the sugarcoating off of the young adult cancer experience, exposing the gritty and compelling stories of twenty-five complete strangers. The men and women in Everything Changes confess their most vulnerable moments, revealing cancer experiences they never told anyone else—everything from what they thought about at night before going to bed to what they wish they could tell their lovers but were too afraid to.

Chicken Soup for the Surviving Soul
My daughter bought me this book when I was diagnosed, it's 101 Healing Stories About Those Who Have Survived Cancer. I loved it because it is every age and every cancer of people who beat the odds.
