July 10 CT Scan
Scott had two rounds of Gemzar (six weeks) and a follow up CT scan on the 10th. Current tumors stable but now developing a pleural effusion. They are keeping him on Gemzar for another two rounds then will do an X-ray to see if the effusion has changed.
His sister, who was diagnosed with leukemia six months after his diagnosis has been told her only option will be a clinical trial as they feel they have used all available chemos on her.

Dawn,
I am so sorry your family is going through this. Does your s-i-l have someone taking care of her? Have they decided which clinical trial to start her on?
She has gone to our state hospital and started the clinical trial, haven't heard which one. She goes to the same dr my husband goes to and they told him today that she is definately getting the medication not the placebo. Not sure how they know that since most studies are blind nor do I know how they can tell him that re: HIPAA but any way they tell him or us everything with no prompting. The doctors at the state hospital have told her if this doesn't work she will need to go to hospice. Their elderly mother has been helping her so far. I'm sure it's hard on her having two children suffering from cancers - she wants to do so much but just can't. It's wearing on her.0 -
