Sorry to hear
That much pain does not sound normal. I had a G-tube, which I believe is a little different from a PEG. I did not have any pain. I'm sure you will hear from those with PEGs soon. Don't hesitate to call her doctor with questions like this. No one should be in that kind of pain.0 -

That's what I think too! I don't think there should be this much pain! She is fine when she is just sitting; however, anytime she gets up to walk around, cough, etc... it brings her to tears! I have a call out to doctor. Doctor gets in around 1pm today... so we anxiously wait...0 -
I was in incredible pain for
about 3 days after my PEG got put in....they had me on diladid, and it had my port surgeon so nervous she did a cat scan....but all was normal. A number of us women on here had some pretty bad cramping (like labor....it starts, the cresendo's, the eases off...only to start right back up again).
Tell her Dr., but I'm sure he's going to tell you it's normal, and that it will ease up shortly.

At one point, after several months, I did get pain which turned out to simply be a stitch that was pulling. A quick snip and all pain stopped. Hope it's that simple of a fix for your Mom. I have seen posts with others having issues the first few days with a PEG but again I had a G tube. Some people have said they are one and same but I'm not certain that is true.
Hope the doctor has a resolution this afternoon.0 -

Well, here is the update. The doctor gave mom percocet. I gave her one and she is feeling better! I knew it would work better than morphine or norco. Mom said she feels much better. Still has some pain, which is to be expected, but better. I am hoping by day 3 post PEG placement she will feel much better. Tomorrow she gets another mask made because the nurse said that mom's melted in someone's car? Apparently a nurse was transporting in her car and it melted... ?0 -

When I got my PEG the first 5 or 6 days hurt but after that things got a lot better. Now I am putting anything my wife can blend down the tube. Like everything it just takes a little time to heal.
Thanks
