scan results and apology

I am sorry I haven't been here much recently. I just lost too many people over the last 6 years and now my dad is going through cancer ( lung) and I am taking him in. On the good news side, last scan was good and clear. This makes me get to the six year mark . Of course like others it has not been easy. Stage 4, colon, liver and lung mets, chemo, liver surgery, 4 lung surgeries, colon surgery but stilll teaching and just celebrated daughters' 16th birthday at Disneyland and my son's High School graduation. The randomness of success and loss to cancer is just so unfair. Hearing about Cheryl just drives a knife into my tears....
I have not done anything special to get here. I do eat healthy, stay away from sugar, pray and curse, don't excercise as much as I should, still take a drink now and then, coach and get stress, try to stay surfing ( good south swell in San Clemente last weekend where my son now looks out for me in the lineup... a changing of the guard).
To all fighting, caring and supporting others, thank you...
Love to all
Chip

Hi Chip
No need to apologize...life gets heavy at times with the good and the bad.
So sorry to hear that your Dad has cancer. He is very fortunate to have you to help him along the way.
Glad to hear that you have been out celebrating the milestones of life and the excellent news that the last scan was all clear.
Yes we have suffered many loses here but I am sure each and everyone of them is cheering us on as we continue to go forward.
Hugs to you and best wishes for good treatment success for your dad.

Chip,
It really is great to hear from you. I am so happy to hear that your scan was clear. That is just wonderful news! I also love that you were recently surfing at San Clemente. We love San Clemente. Congratulations on your daughter's 16th and your son's graduation! Our daughter graduated in June and what a sweet time it was.
I am sorry to hear about your father, I will put him in my prayers.
I am really heartbroken about Cheryl. She was such a light and a wonderful friend. I mourn with you my friend.
Keep enjoying those waves. **** will be enjoying the South swell this weekend.
Aloha,

Update
So good to hear from you and to hear that you are doing well. Shame to hear about your father but he sure is lucky to have you by his side at this time. You seem busy as usual as in the past you have been through so much and it hasn't stopped you down. Keep up the busy schedule as it helps keep your young and good luck to you and your family through your's dad's ordeal.

"Still Playing it to the Right..."
Hey Chip
Glad all is well and very sorry about your father...I've spent the last six-months with my dad too...his health slipped at the start of the year and he passed away last month...I had to turn caregiver all of a sudden and there was alot to it - wishing you the best of luck in that arena.
It's not easy. My dad had to have total are and we never could get him home, so it's good that you'll have your dad there with you - will make things much smoother for you.
Best of luck with everything.

Hi Chip. I joined the forum
Hi Chip. I joined the forum last October so I don't believe I have seen you post before. I was diagnosed 10 months before you. I just had my third liver surgery and finished another 12 rounds of chemo. Last scan was clean so i am back to a wait and see approach. I have been fortunate so far not to have any lung involvement.
Anyway it is good to hear from another long term stage 4 survivor.

Glad You Posted
Hi, Chip...
I am sorry to hear about your dad. I know coming on here can be hard at times hearing about people suffering or passing on but reading your post brought me some happiness about your cancer fight and that your scans have been clear. I am going through my third recurrence with this time being in the lungs and it brings me a lot of hope to read your post. Thank you for sharing that with us. Many blessings for you and your dad.

I don't think any of us should apologize for how we choose to deal with this disease. Some days (weeks, months) it's just too much. And someone forgets to tell life to slow down while we'rerunning from doctor to doctor. I am sorry about your dad... but happy about the celebrations you've enjoyed recently. Thanks for sharing all of it with us.
