Hi. Can anyone tell me what I can take for hormone balance. I am taking niacin, vitamin b12, biotin, collagen. I would like to take something called folapro and evening primrose oil. Can anyone tell me anything about these? Also, any other ideas to promote hormone balance and hair, skin, and nail growth?

I would seek a phone consult
I would seek a phone consult with this place, or seek a naturopath local to you. This site is full of info too.

    Hormones
You need to find out whether your hormones are imbalanced, and, if so, in what way. Therefore, Kale's suggestion is a good one. If you self medicate with hormone balancers, without knowing where your levels are, you can do more harm than good. I can tell you that Evening Primrose oil is estrogenic, and as ovarian cancer survivors, we want to avoid these types of products.

    supplements
My biggest issue is getting rid of excess estrogen. Currently I'm taking DIM, but in the past have taken Myomin. Something that would probably be of benefit to most of us here is Sulpherofane, which is a cruciferous extract that not only regulates hormone metabolism, but also bypasses the glutathione pathway. The glutathione pathway is a powerful antioxidant process that doesn't work in most of us because 80% of cancer patients have a genetic mutation that short circuits this pathway.
You may have adrenal fatigue. That can contribute to hormonal issues and menopausal symptoms. There are a number of books out on how to help your adrenals recover, but since you are also dealing with a cancer diagnosis, some of the recommended supplements may not be good for you.
Thyroid issues can also contribute to symptoms you are experiencing. Often, hypothyroidism is a form of Hashimoto's, an autoimmune condition involving the thyroid. To find out if your thyroid issues are actually autoimmune, you need to have your thyroid antibody (TPO) tested.
Also consider that most of your symptoms may be due to a variety of autoimmune issues. I've adopted a diet from a very informative book: "Autoimmune: The Cause and the Cure." that has helped me feel a lot better and given me more energy. If you don't want to pursue a professional's input, you could try this avenue first.
I completely understand how miserable you are feeling. I felt pretty bad before being diagnosed and treated for Hashimoto's. The whole endocrine/hormonal system is very complex. That is why it is risky to self medicate in this realm. You should have some testing done, for thyroid, adrenals, and hormone balance, before embarking on this path. I would recommend working with a naturopath or integrative practitioner because they will address the root of the problem and not just prescribe drugs to mask the symptoms.
What things in the Fat Flush Plan are you unsure of.

    MY THOUGHTS
Sorry you're dealing with all of this, Patty. Your second post sounds a lot like me - fatigue, feeling cold, weight gain, etc. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism some years ago after my recurrance seems reasonable, but it sure is a hard thing to get a grip on.

I'm not familiar with Folapro, but folic acid is an important nutrient. I was taking Evening Primrose Oil for quite a long time, and often wonder if it's 'estrogenic properties/mechanism' was responsible for my recurrance. Your research may reveal otherwise.

Our body sure is complex but beautifully designed, isn't it? Seeking the advice of a homeopathic/naturopathic practioner is advisable. Getting the appropriate tests first will help to determine where your body is in all of this regarding hormones, etc. It may take time, but this will need to be a program tailored specifically to you.

Sending lots of Hugs, Love and Prayers. Let us know what you find out!

Folic acid is good to increase hair growth. My hairdresser suggessted it and my doc said to wait till I finish up chemo to start that. Check with your doc to see what he/she thinks
