1 week post laproscopic partial nephrectomy
I had a laparoscopic partial nephrectomy last Thursday. The surgeon
Had some trouble controlling the bleeding and had to "open me up"
To reach in and stop it. Leaving me with an additional 4" incision across my upper
Abdomen. I was released after a couple days in the hospital
And I'm still in considerable pain? I'm not a wimp or new
To surgery pain, but I can barely walk. I read all I could find about this surgery and was
Not expecting it to be quite this bad?
Or do you think the surgeon "opening me up"
Is making it a lot worse?
Thanks

A little confused by 1 week...
Prsartist3,
Last Thursday was 4 days ago and pain after being "open up" should be expected for a bit longer. If it was the Thursday before you are 11 days post op and pain should be manageable and subsiding. Don't be afraid to give your Doc. a call in either case, they should be able to help you get it under control.
Hang in there,

They should be able to help you, don't try to tuff it out. Try an ice pack in the meantime if you haven't already.0 -

Prsartist3,
The pains you describe are normal for many of us 4 days after your initiation. The complications did't help any. Do follow up with the doctor if you feel the pain excessive.

The surgeon opened me up too for the same reason (although I am sure they cut my artery) but anyway 32 staples later it took a long time for my pain to go away. I took pain meds for approx 3 months post surgery. That was in January. Today I still have back pain off and on but life is good.0
