Xeloda girls and boys please give your input
I hope everyone is enjoying holidays.
I took my first dose today, very anxious about side effects and efficacy of this chemo drug for me.
I having several questions:
What was your initial dose for first week?
How far in dose did you go?
Do you have any advice or tips for minimizing side effects
Thank you very much

Hi Olga,
I really hope the xeloda works for you. I didn't really have any side effects with this, it's the easiest chemo I've done. So there was nothing to minimize.
I took 3000mg/day, 1500 in the am and 1500 in the pm. I don't remember for sure how long I took it...it would have been at least a month, maybe two. If I remember right, I did two weeks on and one week off.
Best wishes to you. Have happy safe celebrations today.
Hugs,

Thanks you. Can you imagine Chemo, which kills cancer and does not have side effects.

My husband was on Xeloda from last July until the end of the year for his EC. He took 2000 mg in the morning and 1500 mg at night on a 3 week cycle--2 weeks on; one week off. They never changed his dosage. (He also got Oxaliplatin IV on the first day of each cycle which caused increasing cold sensitivity, but that's a given with that drug.) He had fatigue, but no nausea or other problems. At first, he wouldn't take the "Drink lots of fluids" seriously and got dizzy and had to get IV's twice, but after that was OK.
Hope you have lots of success and no problems with it!

I took Xeloda for 7 months...one week on and one week off...took 1500 mg in the morning and 1500 mg in the evening..as I said before, no SE..my hair thinned some but that's it....nothing else at all...As Linda said it's the easiest treatment I've had to endure! It gave me 7 months of a normal life and I am grateful for those 7 months!
You should just do just fine on it!

Thank you Angie for very good suggestion about drinking liquids and water. I am feeling like I am more thirsty than normal.
Thank you Nancy for encouragement.
Let's hope and pray it is going to work

Thinking of you and hoping Xeloda has minimal side effects for you. Also, you are in my prayers as you begin with your treatment plan and I this drug does its job.
Big Hugs and Much Love to You and Yours.

Jamie,
Please read this. I have finished my first week that was OK.
The only problem I is pain in my ribs, which is not related to Xeloda.
Good luck0
